Nabi's POV
I still can't believe we're out. When Jake came back to my room last night, I couldn't believe a word he was saying. It all seemed too good to be true. I wondered whether he was simply making fun of me, trying to get my hopes up only to bring them crashing down. But despite my worries, all I could see in his eyes was sincerity. It seemed like he truly wanted to help me, and for that I was beyond grateful.
We had just arrived at a hotel after driving for the past four hours. Jake was now at the front desk attempting to secure us a room. After a few minutes, he returns to me, two keys in his hands.
"Here, these are the keys to your room," he says as he hands the keys to me.
"We're staying in different rooms?" I ask, feeling a twinge of disappointment.
"Of course," he says, studying my face. "Is there something wrong?"
"Well, I don't know, I just thought..." my voice trails off as I fiddle with my hands.
"Do you want to stay in the same room?" he asks gently.
"Um...no," I lie, trying to sound casual. "It's fine, I was just curious. "
He continues looking at me, trying to read my expression. "Are you sure?" I nod quickly.
"Alright, if you're sure." He takes my hand, a simple gesture that sends warmth rushing to my cheeks. I look down, hoping he doesn't notice the blush creeping up my face.
As we reach our floor, he continues to lead me to our rooms. "This one's mine and that one's yours," he tells me, pointing to two rooms opposite of each other. "If you need anything, just knock on my door, and I can help you out." He opens the door to his room and steps inside, leaving me alone in the hallway.
I scoff. He could have at least said goodbye. With a sigh, I open the door to my room and step inside.
Immediately, I'm blown away. It's an extremely large suite; larger than any I had ever been in. I tour the space, taking in every bit of the room. I then make my way to the bathroom, which was a spacious area with both a tub and shower. I take notice of the small tv opposite the tub, deciding to take advantage of that later.
Jake never fails to surprise me. He must have spent a crazy amount of money for a room like this. This adds to the long list of the things I owe him for.
A let out a sigh as I lay on my bed. So much has happened, and the day has barely begun.
I can't help but wonder how my family is doing. Are they worried about me? How is Haeun? Is she alright as well? My heart yearns to see her again, bury her in a tight hug. I remind myself to ask Jake later about returning to my family. But for now, I'll go and take the warm bath I had promised myself earlier.
Finally, I sit up and make my way to the bathroom. I turn on the water and remove my clothes, then step into the soothingly warm water. I allow the water to remove all my stress and worries, letting myself be present in the relaxing moment.
After spending a fair amount of time in the tub, I decide to stand up, draining the water as I do so. Once I'm up, I realize something I should have remembered a long time ago. I have no clothes to change into. I look around for a robe to put on, and find one besides the shower. I quickly grab it and put it on, comforted by the warmth it gives me.
I don't know what to do. I have two options. One, I could change back into the same clothes I've been wearing for the past week. Two, I could just go to sleep in the robe. I weigh the pros and cons, before finally deciding that I'd much rather sleep in the robe. I put my hair into a messy bun, before laying down on my bed.
