Both friends had rotated searching using the netbook computer, one going out, the other napping. Kirk was amused, Josh snored and slept on his side, his head resting on his arm which slid under his pillow.
Kirk kept his doubts and reservations to himself. Josh was understandably obsessed with finding out more about where he came from after crossing paths with that kid that was telepathically unreadable. There were others like Josh, he was not alone, but not being alone meant...
Sighing, Kirk shook his head. There was something wrong...something he worried about, Kirk knew Josh would not rest until he found his answer...for better or worse...and the worse worried him.

Josh sat in his boxers cross legged on the bed, typing furiously on the netbook computer. Kirk had done a monumental job of searching, and had found several assistants, that were either retired, working as instructors or professors. But still no indication of what the word 'jonas' meant...if anything.
Kirk was asleep, his head under the covers, one bare milky white leg sticking out from under the twisted knot of bedding, sheet, and blanket. Josh smiled at Kirk, and shook his head. Kirk would kill him if he found out...but Josh knew eventually Kirk would...his subconscious mind was connecting the dots in dream imagery. Kirk thought it was Josh's mind reaching out in dreams to Kirk's, but Kirk's own mind was...processing.
Josh stretched, and thought about...the becoming, what Kirk was...or soon to be. Josh wanted to...reproduce, to share his power, and slowly he had been. With a deep breath, Josh shook of his speculations and troubling thoughts, and focused on the search.
"Down to the last few..." Josh muttered softly to himself.
Josh's mind wandered back...and he grimaced, realizing what Kirk was...doing, becoming, was for his own safety, and it was too late to turn back now. Josh looked at his lap, the netbook computer resting on his pasty white thigh, and wondered...but then shook off his doubts. Josh had been testing his ability, his power, and Kirk was one such...test. But in this case, Josh had wanted to elevate Kirk so they could share without Josh having the power. Giving up one's strategic advantage...out of love, Josh loved Kirk, that was a demonstration of true love...wasn't it?
"The fuck if I know," Josh said to himself...but inside Josh believed it to be so. Josh rubbed his face, and then resumed his search efforts.
"Tally ho!"
Kirk snored deeply in response, causing Josh to smile inwardly and shake his head ruefully.

Kirk opened his eyes, and found himself staring into a silvery white light. After a few moments, Kirk realized they were his own eyes from the pin pricks in the glowing orbs that stared intensely back at him.
Kirk blinked, and found he was in the glass gazebo, in a dark forest, the pale light of a moon rained down into the clearing. Kirk looked down and saw he was naked, his milky skin glowing in the moonlight. Beyond, Kirk knew they were there...and in confirmation to that thought, slowly many pairs of reddish eyes glowed in the shadows beyond the edge of the clearing.
Kirk looked at his body in the glass, trying to focus away from the unwanted attention of the darkened woods beyond.
Kirk gasped, he was not so husky as he was emaciated, thin, his body was slender, fragile appearing, but how?
Glancing around furtively, Kirk wondered, and was frightened that Josh was not with him. He was...all by himself, alone.
All through Kirk's thinking and observing, the glowing red eyes beyond remained quiescent, watching him, and waiting...for what?
