The Fifth Element

04: Training

Diego was right when they said they were leaving early because when I woke up they were already gone. I went downstairs to eat breakfast because later I will go to the training room where Miss Lovely is.

They said that I will be with Miss Lovely for two days and the same goes for Professor Lu. My only wish is that they won't torture me too much.

I ate quickly and immediately put on my training suit. I really hope I come home without a broken bone.

When I arrived at the training room, Miss Lovely wasn't there yet because I was 30 minutes early. I meant to be early so I could start training alone. I'm nervous to compete with Miss Lovely.

I know how to do taekwondo but that's not enough here. I still have a lot to learn. I did what she taught me with the arnis. But to this day, I still struggle with holding the arnis and the arnis always slips on my hand.

I just shook my head a few times as I let go of the arnis. I'm only using arnis and it's always slipping out of my hand and I still struggle to hold it. What if it's a heavy sword?

The enemy will surely kill me quickly. I'll just count a second and then I'll be gone from this world. I am so weak.

"This is so frustrating! How can't I get it?!" I shouted in annoyance and threw the arnis.

I'm already tired but until now I still can't handle the arnis correctly. It's always slipping out of my hand and I'm having trouble moving it. I don't know how to use it!

"You should think of it as part of your body." Miss Lovely's voice from behind me. She picked up the arnis and showed me her movements. "As your body moves, so should your sword move. Your movements should be the same, Solanna."

"But no matter what I do, I'm having trouble. I've let go of the arnis several times." I pouted and she laugh.

"Because you think you should learn it because of someone or because you just want to. You have to love training with your weapon." She threw the arnis at me which I immediately grabbed before she used her element to get another arnis.

"Do I really have to love training with a weapon just so I can learn and use it well?" I asked her curiously.

She pointed in the direction where there were arrows and bow. "Tell me why you are good at using a bow?"

I think of an answer and looked at her. "At first I just liked it but eventually... I fell in love with training how to shoot an arrow. I just fell in love with it and I'm always excited every time I have training..."

She's right...

I learned and I'm good at bow because I love it. I love doing it and training with it.

"Exactly." she nodded and smiled. "You weren't forced into the decision because you love what you do. It's the same with other weapons. When you love and don't feel bad about the training you can do it right. You're always gonna look for it."

I nodded and agreed with her but I still don't understand what I should do to be able to use the weapon correctly.

"But how can I love and learn sword? I can't do what you say. That we have to make every move together. Me and the sword."

She raised her two hands and after a while the arnis we were both holding was replaced by a bow. There is also hanging behind us where the arrows are placed.

"Because the sword is not for you, Solanna. You should have held a bow in the first place."

"But I want to learn how to use a sword."

She came to me and held my shoulder. "Not everything you want to learn is you need to learn right away. There is a time for that, Solanna. Diego and the others can teach you if you want."
