Persephone squealed and gently shook my shoulder. "Maybe we try to get backstage?"

"'Seph?!"

"What?! Maybe this woman could give us insight?"

I softly groaned at her words, smiling at the woman on stage when her eyes locked with mine again. "Okay, maybe."

Persephone smirked and looked at the performers, making sure to move away from me and wink at the woman. "Let's hope this works."

After the concert ended, Persephone managed to get us backstage. I sucked in a sharp breath when we got closer to the performers, my eyes locking with the lead singer's eyes. The woman smiled as we got closer, her green eyes sparkling when we stopped.

"Hello," A man purred and took Persephone's hand, lifting it to his lips. "And who are you two lovely ladies?"

"Married," Persephone smiled and yanked her hand away. "And this is my lifelong friend!"

"[Y/N]," I murmured, earning a hum from the woman as she sipped from a wine glass.

"And you? Are you taken?" The man moved to me, making me tense and shake my head. "Well, how would you like-?"

"Ahem!" The woman cleared her throat, making the man jump and step back. "Ignore him. The boys were just leaving, weren't they?"

"Uh, ye-yeah," The man cleared his throat before leaving with the other guys, leaving us with the woman.

"I'm sorry about them," The woman sighed. "The men are used to women throwing themselves at them."

"And what about you?" Persephone asked, making my eyes widen. "Do you get a lot of people throwing themselves at you?"

"...Not anyone I'm attracted to," The human hummed, her eyes roaming over my body. "But sometimes the right person comes back here."

"Oh?" Persephone giggled before pretending to remember something. "Oh, dear! My husband asked me to bring home dinner! I'm very late!"

"'Seph-!" I hissed when the goddess left, clearing my throat before offering a quick smile to the woman. "H-Hi."

"Hi," The woman smiled and offered her hand to me. "My name's Alcina Dimitrescu. Would you care to join me for a late-night walk? Since your friend had to take off?"

"Normally, I'd think this were an attempt to kill me," I softly laughed, taking the hand she offered me. "But I do enjoy late-night walks."

"You're new around here, aren't you?"

"You could say that, yeah."

"...How long will you be here?"

"I'm not sure yet," I admitted. "Usually, I only go to places for research and leave as soon as I have what I'm there for. But, for once, I might stick around for a while."

Alcina smiled as we left the back of the venue. "If you do stick around, I'll gladly show you more of our humble little village."

"Don't tempt me further."

"Maybe that was my plan."

I giggled as she pulled me closer when a cold breeze blew. "Maybe it'll work."

"A beautiful lake," I breathed when we stopped, taking in how the moonlight reflected off the lake and illuminated the area around it. "How often do you come here?"

"After every performance," Alcina mused and released my hand. "I go for a swim. Care to join me?"

'This isn't her first time pulling this with a woman,' I noted, nodding at the woman. "I'd love to! But I don't have any swimwear-"

"Neither do I," Alcina hummed and removed her dress, letting it pool at her feet. "That's not going to stop me."

'This human's bold,' I smirked and removed my shirt, scrambling to keep up with undressing after Alcina stripped nude. "I guess it won't stop me either."

Once I was undressed, I joined Alcina in the lake and swam over to her, trying to ignore the naiads of the lake.

"Glad you decided to join," Alcina mused before tilting her head to the stars. "It gets boring coming here alone."

"...How'd you know?"

Alcina laughed. "The way you looked at me. Your reaction to the men asking if you were single proved I was right. Does your friend know?"

"Most of the people in my life know."

"...And they're okay with it?"

"...Humans tend to be the only ones that care about such things," I scoffed, forgetting I was speaking to a human.

"Almost sounds like you're not human," Alcina snorted, swimming around me. "So they accept you?"

"They do," I hummed, sucking in a sharp breath when the human stopped behind me. "What about you?"

"...No. It doesn't help that I want children, so people automatically think that I like..."

"I know how you feel," I sighed. "It's why I hate traveling."

"Well, how about we forget that for tonight?" Alcina whispered and swam closer, her hands hesitantly moving to my hips. "If you want."

I smirked and glanced over my shoulder at her, inching our faces closer. "If you're going to be so bold."

"I normally wait a few nights," Alcina admitted, her eyes fluttering shut as our lips connected. "But something about you...makes it feel okay to do this early."

'I had fun. I hope I see you again, Alcina.
If you miss me while I'm away, just go into the forest at night and talk to the moon. I'll hear you.

— [Y/N]'

I sucked in a sharp breath and left the note on the pillow beside Alcina's head, smiling at the sleeping brunette. 'Getting involved with a god never ends well for humans...I hope that isn't the case here.'

I glanced at Alcina's vanity and slowly made my way over to it, frowning at the journal she kept. 'Who's this 'Mother Miranda' she wrote about? Is she the woman in the photo with Alcina?' My eyes dragged over the photo of Alcina and a woman in a priestess robe. 'I should leave, but I'll bring this up to Persephone.'

When I returned to Olympus, I quickly showered and changed clothes, leaving my castle while the sun rose. Persephone skipped over to me, a wide grin on her face. 'Speak of the devil.'

"I heard that," The goddess huffed.

"You ditched me!"

"You wouldn't have had sex if I didn't!"

I opened my mouth to protest before shutting it again, grumbling. "...Okay, maybe you're right."

Persephone giggled and grabbed my arm, tugging me to her castle. "Tell me everything!"

"We didn't really talk a lot."

Persephone gasped with a wide smile, playfully smacking my arm. "[Y/N]! You didn't even take her out to eat first?!"

"...She ate..."

The goddess cackled and pulled me inside. "You're so gross!"
