Sometimes, I don't even know what is more important, whether it is your love or my family, and that kills me, having to choose kills me.
Moon and Sophie got off from the carriage and took in a deep breath before climbing up the marble stairs and into the throne room. "Home, sweet home, I missed you", Moon and Sophie sighed together at the same time.
At either side of the three dark jewelled thrones were two pillars, on which there were gargoyles, opening their mouth ready to devour you. The heavy doors across the thrones opened and King Sullivan and Queen Melissa walked in, smiling at heir beloved daughter, with Anita and Christie, Sophie's mother in tow. "Oh, my lovely duaghter, welcome home. How I've missed you?", Melissa hugged her daughter tightly while her ftaher gently patted her head and smiled.
"She really has grown, dear. Hope your seneschal has been keepig you from trouble", her ftaher asked and Moon chuckled, she really had missed them. Soon, Christie left with Sophie, then a letter came in for her mother and her mother and father both left the throneroom, leaving her with Anita.
"How's Midnight?", Moon asked, as the two of them walked towards the stables.
"Being stubborn as usual", Anita replied, chuckling. "I tried riding him when you were away, to exercise his hooves, but he pushed me off him. He really misses you", said Anita as they opened the door of the stables and Midnight jumped into her, hugging her tightly. , nuzzling his mane aginst her neck.
"I miss you too buddy", she had found him, as a pony, wounded at the edge of a cliff and she had taken him home to tender tohim, though Sophie could understand the language of animals and control them, Midnight was Sophie's blindspot. It was only Moon that could understand the language of Midnight and it was like the horse and its master shared a bond that spanned way back in generations.
Moon rubbed his mane gently and touched her forehead to the silver star on his forehead, the only part of him that wasn't black ad it brought her immense comfort. She swung up and climbed on his back before kicking it to trot. "Let's go to the fields, Midnight", Moon said smiling at Anita who had climbed another horse.
"Let's go then, my dear", Anita said and Midnight began to gallop. Anita often said that Midnight was the fastest horse she had ever seen, his head was as big as a dragon's though, but he had long and naturally arched neck, with a prominent withers an d abroad croup. He was very muscular, and he had strong legs which were lithe but could carry her faster than she had ever seen, she wondered if he could even outrun Justin, but she kept that thought to herself.
Moon and Anita raced over the bridges into the villages and towards the winter forest where it was always cold. She got off from Midnight after an exhilarating bonding with her horse and walked to her treehouse, the snow crunched beneath her feet. Anita also dropped down and walked to the rabbit hole, she removed the glamour with a wave of her hand and the two of them entered the place where most of Moon's memories were formed with her mother and her aunt.
"Moon, I'll be right back, I might have some unfinished business in the village", Anita turned and left the treehouse, a few minutes after Anita had left, Moon went out of the treehouse and joined Midnight. Moon jumped on the back of Midnight and began to follow the trail of Anita's horse, she soon reached a dark cave and she saw Anita's horse tied to one of the trees near the cave, Moon tied Midnight to the same tree while he whined in response as though he didn't want her to go in there. She put her forehead to his star and rubbed his coat gently to calm him down. He stopped whining, and Moon pulled her cloak over head before entering the dark cave.
As she walked steathily into the dark interiors of the cave, she began to notice shadows on the cave walls as though there was a light from within the cave illuminating the cave, when it seemed that she was closer to the source of light, she glimpsed her aunt's cloak as she pulled it off and began to light the candles in the space, she could feel footsteps approaching her and she gasped, her aunt was not alone.
