I wish I could look you in the eye and not pity you, see your golden pools and melt underneath them. I wish my resolve was stronger.
Sun opens his eyes slowly, strangely weakened and eye roaming his entire room and taking in the details, this usually kept him sane whenever he was in the king chambers, a place where he had no say or willpower. He was feeling deeply depressed and hopeless but he pictured Moon's face and he felt a surge of hope travel up his bones.
Sun stood up and opened his curtains, it was nearly dusk and the beautiful sunse was already using its highlights to turn the sky into swirl of colours, red orange, blue, white and pink all tinged together forming a beautiful pattern brought him immense relief. The door to his bedrrom opened and Nora walked in.
"Sun, get up and dress up now. Apparently, we have a very huge problem and I think your father would like to explain it to you himself", Nora ruffled through the clothes in his wardrobe and brought out the crown prince robe.
"What exactly is going on?", it pissed him off a bit the way Nora walked into his room and started giving him orders but he knew it was his father who put her up to it.
"In a few words, Princess Moon and her father are here".
"Turning the rings on his finmgers calmed him down as he walked down the stairs into the throne room. "Crown Prince Sun of Good kingdom coming in", the guards announced and Sun entered smiling.
"There is my son", said King Philip, beckoning towards his son to join him in the drawing room by his side at the head of the long table, Sun smiled trying to enjoy the moment of having his father's attention to himself. And the he saw Moon sitting down beside her father, a grim look on her face. She looked at him with such hate that chilled him to the bones. What was going on?
"So, let's begin the meeting, Philip", said King Sullivan. "We had a treaty, you will not attack my land and I will not attack your lands, but you have finally chosen to break the treaty and this calls for war, i did not come here to have a stupid meeting with you, I came here to warn you to watch your back, I will give anything to destroy you brother", Sullivan snarled.
"Really? Even your own daughter", said Gladiolus and Sullivan roared angrily.
"NOT A HAND SHALL TOUCH MY DAUGHTER! WHOEVER TOUCHES MY DAUGHTER SHALL REGRET IT! I SHALL WIPE OUT EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF HIS OR HER GENERATION", Sun was immediately reminded of how ddangerous the man sitting in front of him was. he was the king of Evil kingdom, ruthless and bloodthirsty. but what was keeping him from attacking him there an dthen in the palace? Then he saw how he was sitting protectively beside Moon, and he could understand.
Moon was the only thing stopping her father from becoming the monster he was and now that the peace treaty was broken, he might not be able to stop hiding his hate. "Could you explain brother the treaty was broken?", Sun was surprised as how his father remained calm even with the tension brewing from Master Gladiolus and King Sullivan.
This time, Moon spoke up, her voice as cold as ice, pointed like a spear aimed for his heart. "You might have all heard that Prince Sun has become my fated", Moon said standing up, smiling evilly. Sun could no longer recognize Moon, it was like she had disappeared into a shell, she did not show any emotion. Were they here because Moon was his fated?
She started to walk round the table until she stood behind master Gladiolus' chair, playing with her hair. "And we also know that he is a charmer who can bend any soul to his will", Moon said, why was she speaking of his power as though it was forbidden. "And I believe Crown Prince Sun charmed me and bent me to his will so that I could become his fated, he knew that after I became his fated, his kingdom could have access to my kingdom. But before he could charm me and bend me to his will, he knew that he had to break the spells that might be protecting me from such. And so, he burnt my mother and killed my aunt", Sun gasped.
"I would never do that, I never charmed you or did anything to control your will, you loved me purely", it sounded desperate how he sounded like as though he was willing to risk it all but the look in Moon's eyes told him all. Moon had written him off. His father kicked him under the table while still smiling and Sun sat down.\
"So, this is what will happen, if you do not brong the dead body of the queen out in a day, war begins. If you do bring the queen's body out, we would give you all a fighting chance and allow you to set up your army", Moon walked off to the back of his father's chair and tapped Philip's shoulders speaking gently. "Even the orb won't be able to save you now".
Thrn she plopped down on her chair beside her father. "We should not let it come to war yet, should it?", Philip stood up smiling calmly. Sullivan glared and Sun knew that the king of Dark Kingdom was contemplating whether to rip his father's head off.
"Why don't we solve the problem with a swordfight, it was what our mother would have proposed, isn't that right, brother?", his father said. The Dark king clenched his fists and tightened his teeth together trying to suppress his anger.
"Of course, let's solve it that way", Sun could almost see a flicker of surprise cross his fated's face but her face remained unreadable.
"Well then, it's settled", Philip stood up and laid his hand on Sun's shoulder. "Follow me inside, Sun. i need to tell you something", his father whispered and stood up, the meeting dispersing after him. Moon stood up to also leave but Sun ran after her and quickly held her hand it didn't have to be this way he was very bad at swordfight.
"Please, Moon, I swear, I did not come to the Dark Kingdom at all, infact I have never seen your mother in my life before", Sun said desperately hoping for a light to shine within Moon's eyes, he saw it flicker for a second then die.
"Nice try, you almost charmed me again", Moon snatched her hand away from his and went out. Sun hung his head low and quickly wiped away the tears threatening to spill over. He left the meeting room and went to his father's chambers and closed the doors gently.
"Son, please sit", his father gestured to the chair in front of the table in the courtyard. Sun pulled out the chair and sat down. "I am acutely aware of your poor sword fighting and you must also know that I do not make decisions without considering the consequences though I am still surprised that you would kill your fated's mother", Philip said.
"I did not kill her mother", Sun reiterated.
"I know, I am still trying to find out who killed Melissa, but meanwhile, I would want you to charm your fated, if you do not want to die, it's your choice. the fight shall end till you draw first blood", Philip said and Sun gasped, what was his father thinking? He wanted him to charm Moon. Not even a chance in heaven.
"I WILL NEVER CHARM MOON!", Sun stood up and walked out on his father. He was about to turn the door knob when he heard his father.
"You can't even do this one bit to make the kingdom of Good proud, I wish you were not this weak", Philip said and Sun walked out, running to his room unable to control the tears crawling down his cheeks.
Moon stood on the battlefield and drew out her sword, ready to strike down her fated, the boy who had claimed her heart, the boy who made her heart race, the boy who made her complete and made her able to breathe even in the tightest conditions. He drew out his own sword too, they both bowed and started the sword fight. Moon parried and feinted, moving slowly in a way thta she could not understand. If it were another competitor like Sun, he would have been down in seconds. Maybe he was charming her again, why was he charming her?
She found an opening and quickly took advantage, kicking him to the ground and pointing the sword to his chest. He gasped in surprise at her.
"Princess Moon of the Dark Kingdom wins, while Prince Sun of the Good Kingdom loses", she could imply what they meant with those words.
"Do it, daughter, strike down the boy who killed your mother, kill him. Revenge", her father was beside her now, her heart thudded slowly.
"No", she said, before she could stop herself. "We are waging a war, whether the kingdom of Good likes it or not, we give you one week to gather your armory and resources. Because when we start burning you, we will burning you one by one", said Moon.
"Then kill the boy", her father was beside her now.
"No, I want him to be my pet, I want to bend him to my will, I want to control him, I am taking him home as my prisoner", Moon said and the crowd gasped.
This was the least Moon could do to stow away her father's plans for revenge.
