Lisa's voice carries a mix of concern and humor as she responds to my question about the creature.
"I don't know, Y/n," Lisa says, her brow furrowing slightly. "But I'm pretty sure someone wants you to be monster-chow."
Yena lets out a nervous chuckle, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. "Wait, me too? Just because I'm with Y/n?"
Lisa nods with mock seriousness, her eyes glinting mischievously in the rearview mirror. "Absolutely. You're collateral damage by association."
I roll my eyes, a grin tugging at my lips. "Great, so we're both on the monster menu now?"
I ask Lisa, my voice tinged with concern, "What do we do now?"
Lisa's expression turns serious as she considers the situation. "It's probably the Liberum that wants you monster-chowed."
Yena's brow furrows in confusion. "What's the Liberum?"
I answer. "There was this secret sisterhood, the nine sisters, they basically started the monitoring society. They were supposedly guarding a secret. They were found murdered at their home in France in 1732."
I sigh as I continue, "The ninth sister's body wasn't found, people think she is secretly guarding the secret, most probably an artifact. The group widely believed to have murdered the Nine Sisters call themselves the Liberum. A secret brotherhood. But the Brothers have pushed it to the extreme."
Lisa says, "We believe they have taken enough souls to live far past their natural span of twenty-one years, and may have even survived for centuries, killing for life. As a result, they're shells—barely human except in form. We believe there are nine of them. All eight of the Nine Sisters who were found dead had gauze stuffed in their mouths."
Yena's eyes widen with incredulity as she processes the unsettling information. "So, these Liberum guys are like... immortal soul-sucking murderers? And they're still around?"
I nod solemnly, my gaze flickering between Yena and Lisa. "Exactly. They've somehow managed to cheat death and continue their existence by harvesting souls. It's as twisted as it sounds."
Lisa leans forward, her expression grave. "And now they seem to have taken an interest in Y/n."
Yena shakes her head in disbelief. "But why target Y/n? What do they want with you?"
I glance out the window, pondering the question. "That's what we need to figure out. If they're after something related to the artifact the Nine Sisters were guarding, it could be incredibly powerful."
Lisa nods thoughtfully. "We need to stay vigilant. The Liberum won't give up easily, especially if they think Y/n is a key to finding that artifact."
As we continue driving, Yena's incredulous voice cuts through the tense atmosphere. "Wait, you're a witch?" she exclaims, disbelief and curiosity mingling in her tone.
I chuckle nervously, nodding in affirmation. "Yeah, I guess I am. Lisa figured it out not too long ago."
Yena's eyes widen in realization, her mind racing to piece together the recent events. "So, if you're a witch," she starts tentatively, "does that mean you have powers?"
Lisa interjects, her voice steady and serious. "Exactly. Y/n has dormant powers, and if the Liberum are after the artifact guarded by the Nine Sisters, they must know something we don't about Y/n's connection to it."
"But why would they think Y/n has any connection to this artifact?" Yena asks, her voice betraying a mix of concern and curiosity.
Lisa's gaze flickers to me briefly before returning to the road. "Because witches like Y/n are often connected to ancient artifacts of power. If they can't get to the artifact directly, they might try to use Y/n as a conduit to access it."
I swallow hard, the weight of Lisa's words sinking in. "So, we need to trigger my powers somehow?" I ask, my voice tinged with apprehension. "But I don't even know how to use them."
"We'll figure it out," Lisa reassures me, her tone determined. "But we need to be prepared. The Liberum won't hesitate to use any means necessary to achieve their goals."
Yena shifts uncomfortably in her seat, her expression troubled. "And if they get their hands on this artifact... what could they do?"
Lisa's jaw tightens, her expression grim. "It's hard to say. The power of such artifacts is often beyond comprehension. It could tip the balance of supernatural forces in their favor, or worse."
As the gravity of the situation settles over us, I glance at Yena, silently grateful for her presence. "We have to stay one step ahead of them," I say firmly, steeling myself against the fear creeping in.
Yena nods in agreement, her voice steady despite the fear in her eyes. "We will. We'll figure this out together."
Lisa's grip on the steering wheel tightens further, her expression resolute. "First, we need to learn more about this artifact and why the Liberum are so desperate to find it."
Lisa's words carry a weight of caution and concern, emphasizing the importance of staying together for safety. "Yena, it's best if you stick with us," Lisa says firmly, her gaze shifting towards Yena to emphasize the seriousness of her statement.
Excitement bubbles up inside me as I think about Yena meeting Rosé. "You're going to love Rosie, Yena!" I exclaim, unable to contain my enthusiasm. "She's amazing, and her skills are really something."
Yena looks at me with a hint of curiosity, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "I hope so," she replies softly, seeming to appreciate the reassurance.
Lisa nods approvingly, relieved that Yena is agreeing to stay with us. "Rosé will be glad to have you with us," she adds, her tone warm and welcoming.
As Lisa drives, she calls Rosé urgently. "You will be living with us for now. Pack your stuff and be there in 10 minutes," she instructs before abruptly ending the call.
Confused by the short notice, I ask, "How will she manage to get here in just ten minutes?" Lisa calmly replies, "She's a demon, Y/n."
As we enter the house, Lisa opens the door, revealing Rosé seated comfortably on the couch. Excitement bubbles up within me, and I can't contain my joy at seeing Rosé again. "Rosie!!!" I squeal, rushing over to hug her tightly.
Lisa, standing nearby, playfully pouts, teasing me. "Hey, what about me? You never greet me like that!"
I turn to Lisa with a mischievous grin and lean in to give her a quick peck on the lips. "There, better?" I tease back, before turning my attention back to Rosé and enveloping her in another warm hug.
Rosé continues to tease Lisa, winking at me conspiratorially. "You know, Y/n, Lisa here is like a puppy following you around."
Lisa tries to protest, but her blushing cheeks betray her. "I am not!"
Yena jumps in, adding fuel to the fire with a mischievous grin. "Come on, Lisa. We've all seen you googly-eyed."
I lean in and kiss Lisa softly. As I pull away from the kiss, Lisa's cheeks flush with a deep blush, confirming Rosé's teasing remark. She tries to play it cool but can't hide the smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
I chuckle, enjoying the playful banter. "It's okay, Lisa. We all know you've fallen under my irresistible charm."
"You're whipped for her, Lisa," Rosé says with a playful grin, gesturing to Lisa's blushing face.
I wrap an arm around Lisa's waist, pulling her close. "She's right, you know," I tease, planting a quick kiss on Lisa's cheek.
Lisa's blush deepens, but she can't help but laugh. "Alright, fine, maybe just a little whipped," she admits, leaning into the embrace.
Rosé claps her hands in mock applause. Rosé grins mischievously. "See? I told you," she says, enjoying the playful banter.
"You're whipped for her, Lisa," Rosé says with a playful grin, gesturing to Lisa's blushing face.
