As Lisa slowly wakes up, her eyes flutter open and she glances around the room. She spots me sitting beside her and asks, "Where were you?"
I smile softly, trying to ease her worry. "We went to research the artifact, the Clavis Sigilli. We needed to gather more information."
Lisa's expression shifts to a pout. "You left me alone?"
I chuckle softly at her playful tone and lean in to peck her lips gently. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you alone. I'm here now."
Lisa's pout softens, and a small smile appears on her lips. "You better be," she murmurs, still holding a hint of playful annoyance.
Lisa's mother, who has been quietly observing, looks at us with a curious expression. "Is there something I should know?"
Lisa glances at her mother, her cheeks flushing slightly as she turns her gaze back to me. "She's my girlfriend," she says bashfully, a shy smile accompanying her words.
Lisa's mother's eyes widen slightly in surprise but then she smiles warmly. "I see. Well, it's good to know that you have someone special by your side, especially during these challenging times."
I give Lisa's hand a reassuring squeeze, and she responds with a grateful look. "We're in this together," I say softly, "and we'll get through it together."
Lisa nods, her smile growing a bit more confident. "Thank you for everything. I'm glad you're here with me."
Lisa's mother continues to watch us with a gentle smile, clearly touched by the moment. "I'm glad you have each other. Now, let's focus on getting Lisa back to full health and figuring out our next steps."
As Lisa's mother leaves us alone, the room feels quieter, more intimate. I look at Lisa, who is still propped up in bed, her gaze softening as she meets mine.
I lean in and gently kiss her, my lips brushing against hers with a tender affection. The kiss is brief but filled with reassurance and love. When we pull away, I see a contented smile on Lisa's face, and her eyes hold a spark of warmth.
"Everything will be okay," I whisper, my forehead resting against hers. "We'll figure this out together."
Lisa's smile widens, and she gives my hand a gentle squeeze. "Thank you for being here. It means so much to me."
I nod, my heart swelling with emotion. "Of course. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
Two days pass, and Lisa's condition improves significantly. Her strength gradually returns, and her injuries heal, thanks to the care she's received and the support from everyone around her. It's time for her to be discharged from the hospital.
I gather the discharge papers and finish the necessary paperwork, ensuring everything is in order. Once the process is complete, I head to Lisa's room to help her get ready. She's dressed comfortably, her expression a mix of relief and readiness to leave the hospital.
We make our way to her car, and as we approach it, Lisa takes a deep breath, looking relieved to be stepping out of the hospital.
I open the car door for her, helping her into the driver's seat, and then I slide into the passenger seat.
As I sit down, I glance over at Lisa, a small smile on my face. "Ready to head home?" I ask.
Lisa nods, her gaze filled with a sense of determination and hope. "Yes, I am. Let's get out of here."
I give her hand a reassuring squeeze before she starts the car. The engine hums to life, and we begin our drive, leaving the hospital behind us.
The road stretches out ahead, and the familiar surroundings offer a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos.
