She clasps my hand tightly, her grip warm and reassuring against the coldness that has seeped into my bones. “It’s over now, Y/N,” she says softly, her voice trembling with a mix of relief and lingering fear. “It’s over now. The Brotherhood is gone. They’re gone.”

As the weight of her words sinks in, a rush of emotions floods through me—relief, disbelief, and a lingering ache for the pain we both endured. I can hardly process the fact that we’ve made it through, that the threat looming over us has been shattered. But amidst that relief, the reality of our scars, both physical and emotional, remains.

“Is it really over?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. I want to believe her, but doubt clings to me like a shadow.

“Yes,” she assures me, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears. “We did it, Y/N. We’re free.”

I search her face for any signs of deception, but all I see is sincerity and determination. It gives me strength, and I take a deep breath, allowing myself to feel the weight of exhaustion pulling at me. I should be celebrating, but the thought of everything we lost lingers heavily in the air.

“What about you?” I manage to ask, my voice filled with concern. “You’re hurt.”

Her expression softens, and she brushes her fingers against my cheek, her touch tender. “I’ll be okay,” she says, her eyes never leaving mine. “We’ll heal together. But right now, you need to rest.”

Despite the pain coursing through me, I can’t shake the feeling of urgency. “I can’t leave you,” I murmur, the bond we share demanding my presence, my protection.

“I’m right here,” she replies, her voice steady. “You don’t have to worry about me. Just promise me you’ll take care of yourself.”

I nod slowly, still feeling the remnants of darkness creeping in. “I promise,” I whisper, feeling the exhaustion settle deep in my bones.

As I lean back against the ground, her presence wraps around me like a warm blanket, anchoring me to the world. I close my eyes, letting the sounds of the forest fill my senses—the rustle of leaves, the distant call of birds, the soft whisper of the wind.

I sit up slowly, every movement sending jolts of pain through my body, but the urge to hold her tight outweighs the discomfort. I wrap my arms around Lisa, pulling her close. The warmth of her body against mine fills me with a sense of safety I thought I had lost forever.

“I’m so glad you’re okay,” I whisper into her hair, inhaling the familiar scent that always calms my racing heart. “I was so scared…”

Her arms envelop me, and I feel her breath hitch as she returns the embrace. “Me too,” she admits softly, her voice muffled against my shoulder. “But we made it. We’re here, and that’s what matters.”

I pull back slightly, looking into her eyes, which glisten with unshed tears. “You mean it?” I ask, needing the reassurance. “We really did it?”

“Yeah,” she nods, a small smile breaking through the worry etched on her face. “We’re free from them. You did amazing, Y/N. I knew you had it in you.”

A wave of pride washes over me, mixed with the pain of everything we've been through. “I couldn’t have done it without you,” I reply honestly. “You were my strength.”

Lisa shakes her head, a hint of a smile playing on her lips despite the seriousness of our situation. “No, we were each other’s strength. That’s how it works.”

The weight of her words settles in my heart. In this chaotic world filled with danger and uncertainty, I realize how essential our bond is. We’ve fought too hard and lost too much to take any moment for granted now.
