Small smut warning for this chapter
Time skip of a few weeks
Over the past few weeks, things between Joost and me had been going smoothly. Each date had been a step forward, filled with laughter, conversation, and a few sweet kisses. The connection we shared had grown stronger, and holding his hand had become a natural, comforting gesture. I found myself looking forward te each date, eager to spend more time with Joost and see where this blossoming romance would lead.
During one particular date, we found ourselves sitting in a cozy café, sipping on warm drinks and chatting about life. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the conversation flowed naturally. Joost reached across the table and gently took my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. As his hand enveloped mine, a wave of warmth and comfort spread through me. I smiled at him, feeling a small flutter in my chest. It was moments like these that made my heart skip a beat, the simple connection of holding hands feeling all the more special because it was with him. Joost returned the smile, his thumb gently caressing the back of my hand.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked him. Joost looked up from our intertwined hands, his eyes meeting mine. He seemed to consider my question for a moment, his expression slightly sheepish. "Yeah," he said, pausing for a moment before continuing. "Just... contemplating some stuff, y'know?" "Penny for your thoughts?" Joost chuckled softly at my question, his thumb continuing to absentmindedly trace circles on the back of my hand. "It's just... life stuff, I guess," he said, his voice a bit distant. "Just been thinking about some things lately and trying to figure things out, y'know?" "You know you can talk to me, right?" Joost smiled warmly, his expression softening as he looked at me. He gave my hand a gentle squeeze. "I know," he said, his voice sincere. "And I appreciate that. It's just... sometimes things feel a little overwhelming, and I don't want to burden you with my worries." I smiled at him. "You never burden me."
Joost's expression became even more softer as he took in my words. He took a moment, looking down at where our hands were intertwined before meeting my eyes again. "Thank you," he said, his voice a whisper. "You... you're incredible, you know that? I don't know where I'd be without you." My heart did a flip when he said that. "You mean that?" Joost gently squeezed my hand, his gaze unwavering as he looked into my eyes. "Every word, you've become so important to me, and I... I don't know how to explain it. But I feel like a better person when you're around. So, yeah, I mean it." My cheeks blushed a deep shade of red. "You've become important to me too..." I whispered. Joost's smile widened as he noticed the blush spreading across my cheeks. He lifted my hand to his lips, gently pressing a soft kiss to my knuckles. "You don't know how happy I am to hear that," he replied, his voice filled with tenderness.
"So, what are you saying?" I asked quietly. "What I'm saying is... I care about you," he said slowly, searching my eyes for any sign of doubt. "More than I've cared about anyone in a long time. And I'm hoping... well, I'm hoping you feel the same way." My blush darkened even more. "I... care about you too." Joost squeezed my hand again, his touch firm and reassuring. "That's all I needed to hear," he said, a slight tremble in his voice revealing his nerves. "Because there's something I want to ask you... something important." "Yeah?" Joost's heart pounded in his chest as he gathered his thoughts. He took a deep breath, before asking the question that had been on his mind for quiet some time. "I've been thinking... we've been spending so much time together, and I've enjoyed every minute of it." He paused, his eyes locked on mine, his expression serious but hopeful. "And I was wondering if... well, if you'd be interested in... making things official, you know? Being exclusive, being my girlfriend."
I smiled and looked him in the eyes. "I would like nothing more..." Joost's heart swelled with joy as I spoke those words. He couldn't help the grin that spread across his face. "Really? You would be my girlfriend?" I nodded smiling. "Yes." Joost's thumb began to trace patterns on the back of my hand, his touch gentle and soothing. "You have no idea how happy you've made me," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of joy and awe. "I... I feel like the luckiest guy in the world right now." I chuckled and leaned over the table, my hand on the side of his face as I shut him up with a kiss. His eyes widened momentarily in surprise before they fluttered shut, surrendering to the kiss. He leaned into my touch, his hand coming up to gently cup my cheek as he returned the kiss, pouring all the emotions he was feeling into it.
