McGee's POV

"Where is that warrant?!" Gibbs yelled, quickly losing his patience.

"Someone from legal should be. . ."

"I'm here!" Y/N ran into the squad room. "I got you a warrant for their house, garage, cars, and DNA. I wasn't sure if you wanted it for DNA but figured better safe than sorry."

Y/N jumped when Gibbs quickly pulled it out of her hand and headed to the elevator. DiNozzo and Bishop quickly followed him.

"Good work, Y/L/N," I said softly. "I know Gibbs doesn't say it out loud but he appreciates you and everything you do."

"McGee!" Gibbs yelled from the elevator.

"You better get going," she said, nodding towards the team. My stomach sank when she wrapped her arms around herself and walked back to her office. I grabbed my gear and ran to the elevator.

Thanks to Y/N's warrant, we found the murder weapon and were one step closer to arresting the murderer. I walked into the squad room and tossed my backpack on the ground.

"How'd it go?" Y/N asked.

"Good," I said, instantly smiling. "We got everything we needed. Even found the murder weapon in the car under the spare tire. Oh! And thanks to the DNA you added in, we tied him to a convenience store robbery from three years ago."

"That's good," she said as she reached up and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"Yep," I chuckled. "Thanks to you."

"I have to be honest, Agent McGee," she said, suddenly looking away from me, "sometimes I feel like I don't do much here."

"Because Gibbs doesn't trust lawyers?" I laughed. I stopped laughing when I saw the look on her face. "I didn't mean. . ."

"I have work to do," she said quickly as she wrapped her arms around herself and walked away.

"But Y/N," I called after her. "I wasn't laughing at you. I was just. . ."

"Wow," DiNozzo elongated behind me. I turned around and was instantly greeted by his smirk.

"What?" I sighed.

"That poor girl." He shook his head and walked away. "We got a lead, McClueless. Let's go."

"I didn't mean anything by it," I mumbled to myself as I grabbed my gear and headed to the elevator.

"That's not what I meant, McNieve," DiNozzo said as we stepped into the elevator.

"Then what did you mean?" I sighed, quickly losing my patience.

He leaned in and whispered, "You really don't see it?"

"See what?" I asked slowly.

"He doesn't see it," Bishop laughed to herself.

"What. . ."

"When you three middle schoolers are done," Gibbs sighed, "we have a killer to catch."

The elevator stopped on the bottom floor, the doors opened, and Dinozzo and Bishop stepped out. Before leaving the elevator, Gibbs mumbled, "Everyone sees it but you, McGee. You might want to try looking for it."

"I don't even know what 'it' is," I mumbled.

* * * * *

Throughout the case, I kept thinking about the look on Y/N's face. I wasn't laughing at the fact that she thought she didn't do much around the office. I was laughing because of all she does to help us. We wouldn't be able to make any arrests if it wasn't for her.
