"Hey guys, just so we're all on the same page... there's a very high and very real chance we get smited..." I admit as I walked up to the giant bronze dragon."Excuse me?" Leo says as he struggles onto Festus, "I didn't sign up for smiting, if they want to kill me it's going to be a fair fight!"
"Yeahhh, air travel and child of Poseidon don't mix very well. I've never really tested how far I could take it, but I'm hoping a child of Zeus will even the playing field." I acknowledged.
Jason offers me a hand up, "Don't worry about my dad smiting you. No one is getting smited on this quest."
I take Jason's hand and he helps pull me up onto Festus. I was shocked as I tried to pull myself up onto Festus, but I barely had to do any work. Jason was seriously strong. As I sat on the dragon, there were little places to put my feet, as if I was riding a horse. I turned back to look at Jason behind me.
"Oh my gods!" I exclaimed at Jason.
"What?" Jason asked, worried. I think he thought I'd gotten hurt when he helped me up or something.
"What are you, Superman?" I chuckled.
"What?" He questioned, confused.
"God, you're freaking strong! Are you secretly ripped under that jacket or what?" I joked and smacked his shoulder. Leo and Piper started chuckling too as Leo prepped for the Dragon to take off. Jason's ears got red.
"Yeah!" Leo yelled from the head of the dragon, "Jason's like a blonde superman!" Jason's face got even redder as we all laughed. I looked back to Jason's red face a chuckled.
"C'mon, Jason. Don't be embarrassed, we're saying you're cool, own it." I giggled.
Jason cracked a smile and muttered a small, "Yeah."
I readjusted into my seat. The scales of the dragon made a perfect saddle of sorts, it even had perfect places to hook your feet. Heat radiated from the metal skin and made a perfect seat warmer. The dragon was beautiful. Leo looked back at the rest of us before taking off. I was terrified. Jason's presence behind me was the only thing comforting me, making me believe I wasn't flying to my death. All I could think was Zeus wouldn't smite his own son. Would he?
"Cool right?" Leo called.
"Definitely!" Piper shouted.
I took a shaky breath. My eyes held tightly closed. I could hear Leo and Piper whooping in front of me. At least they could enjoy the flying.
"You alright?" Jason asked from behind me.
"Oh, totally!" I called back, my voice full of worry. "Are there seatbelts?"
"Charlotte, You're wearing a harness" Jason snickered.
"I don't know, but metal seems like a good electricity conductor. Are we sure the metal lightning rod is a good ride?" I questioned.
"Hey!" Leo called from the front, "Festus is not a lightning rod! Just calm down back there, Water Girl!"
"Water Girl?" Piper laughed, "C'mon, Leo. You can think of something better than that!"
The pair laughed in the front of the dragon.
"Hey," Jason said behind me, he placed a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll make sure you don't fall off or anything."
"What if we get struck by lightning?"
"We won't get smited, I swear. And if we did, I'd save you." Jason answered my worries. His tone made me believe every word he said.
