The princess and the fiancé

Eleanor was dragged to the room in which Hunter was staying. Surprisingly, he had asked her parents if he could switch rooms to avoid sharing with his uncle.

It was a cozy room, one of the many guest rooms that were in the Dandelion castle, decorated with a couple of books, banners with delicate paintings, and one or two torches lit up that gave the room a soft dim glow.

'We need to talk', are words that never mean good, no one says "we need to talk" to then follow up with something like "about how delicious the meal was!" Or "about how many cats you want when we get married", not in such a serious tone as Hunter did.

Nervous, Eleanor was nervous.

The tic Hunter had earlier, was now a part of Eleanor, she was having a tic, not just one, but multiple. Her neck and her fingers kept on shaking without her being able to control them.

Eleanor had always been a nervous teenager, but being told those words only made her more anxious.

Anxiety is the best friend of depression.

Luckily, the princess didn't have depression. Eleanor knew that wasting her time with emotions such as sadness and self-wallowing would only be a waste of time and energy, so she focused on learning instead of worrying.

"What do you need to talk about?"

Hunter turned to face her, his blonde hair was let down, reaching his neck, soft and pretty locks of hair, he really had nice hair.

Eleanor almost felt jealous of how pretty his hair was, did he spend hours combing it? Does he just wake up and not bother to fix his hair?

"About our kingdoms."

"Yeah, but what about it?"

"About the war that is about to come if we don't get married."

Eleanor froze, war? What war? Why hadn't she been told about this?

"What war?"

"Are you that clueless?" Hunter asked, Eleanor blinked, as if she was a nervous mess earlier, now she was anxiety personified.

"Can't you see the reason why our wedding would be a peace settlement? Geez, I thought you were smart."

Eleanor was now struggling with herself to avoid burning his ass. Maybe learning fire spells wasn't a good idea, not with a moody teenager such as the Dandelion princess.

"Your kingdom and my kingdom have been rivals for as long as they have existed, it's pretty clear how a peace settlement would be a good idea, no more silent wars."

"So, if we get married, our kingdoms... they would fuse?"

The prince nodded, a quiet agreement they both had.

"But if we don't marry, then it's war." Eleanor continued, her tic almost vanishing.

"No pressure, just the entire weight of two kingdoms on our shoulders! Just that, no worries!" And now the princess was panicking.
