Luna was sixteen and a sophomore in high school. She was asked out by her crush and of course she told Paul.
"Mom I have a date." Luna said as she was watching her mother talk to the ancestors.
"A date?!" Paul said excitedly.
"Yeah it's with John the boy I told you I liked." Luna said.
"I'm so happy for you sweetie. When is it?" Paul said.
"Tomorrow after school." Luna said.
Then a breeze of wind blew through Luna feeling her ancestors excitement. She smiled and hugged herself as a thank you to them.
"I think they approve him. They did gave that same wind when I first met your father but thought they were wrong. That's when I realized to never doubt our ancestors." Paul said.
"Oh speaking of dad you know how he'll react about me having a date or even a boyfriend." Luna said.
"Hey I'll handle him you just worry about what you'll wear to your date." Paul said. "Besides he knows you're growing and has to accept it."
"Thanks mom I love you." Luna said as she went to hug Paul.
"I love you too my little star." Paul said as he kissed her head.
Luna let go and happily went to her room to try on outfits. Paul just smiled and cried happy tears knowing his baby is happy.
Later that night
Paul was in bed with Gene cuddling while watching a movie.
"Honey I know you won't like this but Luna has a date." Paul said.
"What?!" Gene said shocked and angrily.
"Honey calm down we both knew this will happen. She's going on a date with a boy she liked for awhile his name is John." Paul said.
"Yeah but we don't know his true intentions he might just want her for her body only. She could end up pregnant at sixteen or worse get abused..." Gene said freaking out.
"I've met him before he has no intention of abusing anyone or anything he doesn't even think about sex." Paul said. "I sensed it now you know my senses are always right. I know she's our baby but we have to accept she's growing so please don't scare him when he comes to pick her up tomorrow."
"Fine but he better not hurt my little starshine." Gene said.
Paul smiled and kissed his husband's cheek.
"She'll be fine. Now cuddle me more." Paul said smiling.
Gene cuddled Paul and they both fall asleep together.
The next day after school
Luna was putting on her outfit she picked out. She did her hair with a star clip on the side which was her good luck charm and star earrings that was once her mother's earrings.
Then there was a knock on the door, Gene opened it.
"Uh hi Mr Simmons is Luna here?" John asked alittle scared.
"Yes she is now listen here you upset her and you and I will have a talk." Gene said sternly.
"Gene stop you're scaring him. John hun I'm sorry about her father come in she's almost done getting ready." Paul said.
John walked in then Luna came downstairs. Immediately John was mesmerized by her.
"Wow Luna you look beautiful." John said.
"Oh thank you." Luna said blushing.
"Aww lemme take a picture of this. My baby's first date." Paul said as he got his camera.
"Mom." Luna said annoyed and embarrassed.
"Smile." Paul said.
They smiled and was out the door.
"He better treat our little girl well." Gene said.
"He will trust me. Now come on we got a album to record." Paul said. "Ruby you're in charge since Luna is out."
"Ok mom." Ruby said.
A few hours later
Luna and John came back to Luna's house. They shared a kiss and a hug.
"I had a great time John." Luna said blushing.
"I did too Luna." John said also blushing. "You know we've been friends since 8th grade. My feelings grew stronger everyday and I wanna ask if you'd be my girlfriend."
Luna was shocked but wrapped her arms around John and said "Yes John of course I will."
"Well I'll see you Monday at school but I'll call you in the morning to say good morning." John said.
"Ok." Luna said smiling.
They parted ways. Luna unlocked the door and went inside.
"Oh hi Luna. How did it go?" Paul asked as he was making dinner.
"It was amazing. We are a couple now." Luna said smiling.
"Oh my god honey i'm so happy for you." Paul said hugging his daughter.
"Dad what do you think?" Luna said looking at Gene.
Gene looked at Paul giving him a 'don't ruin this' look.
"He seems like a nice boy but if he hurts you I will hurt him." Gene said.
"Gene." Paul said sternly.
"Well I'm gonna go change." Luna said smiling.
Luna went upstairs and started talking to her siblings.
"Chaim witz." Paul said angrily.
"Uh oh birth name." Gene whispered to himself.
"I told you to stop being overprotective. I told you I sensed good in him and I sensed he truly loves Luna. So my magic is not trustworthy now." Paul said angrily.
"Look I'm sorry it's just..." Gene started but then started tearing up which surprised Paul. "I don't know how to accept she's not a baby anymore."
"Gene.." Paul said calmly then hugged him. "I don't know either all we can do is just support her and her relationship with John. The same for children's future partners."
"I just want her to make the right choices." Gene said hugging back.
"Me too. I love you Gene you're a good father." Paul said.
"I love you too Paul and you're a good mother." Gene said.
They kissed which felt they can do forever.
"Now I gotta finish dinner." Paul said.
Gene just smiled and learned his kids will grow up one day and he has to accept it no matter what.
