Paul put his three year daughter Luna for a nap. He walked to his and gene's bedroom and just laid down.
"Ugh that child is so active." Paul groaned.
Paul took Luna to the park to play. He kept running after her everytime she chased a squirrel or butterfly. Then he came back let her play outside in the backyard with her toys. She just wanted to run around and wanted Paul to chase her as she was riding her tricycle.
That was about 4 hours of playing and all Paul wanted to do was sleep. Gene came home and went upstairs to their bedroom.
"Hey baby. What happened you look exhausted." Gene said.
"Motherhood is what happened." Paul said.
Gene thought for a moment and then smiled. "My starchild are you.."
Before Gene could finish that sentence. Paul immediately cut him off.
"No luna got me running after her almost for four hours. We went to the park so she can play on the new playground that was built but all she wanted to do was chase squirrels and butterflies. Then we came home she played in the backyard with her toys then she got on her tricycle and had me chase she thought it was game so for the past ten minutes it was just me chasing her." Paul said.
Gene laid down next to him and said "Man I wasn't there but I got worn out just hearing that story."
"Yeah well that's what three years do they just wanna explore and not acknowledge what can happen to them." Paul said.
"Look Paul I know we talked about this but I think it's time we send her to a daycare." Gene said.
"No out of the question she's too young" Paul said getting alittle mad.
"Now Paul I'm not asking. I think it's time and you know so too. Besides she gotta play with kids her own age and it'll help her prepare for when it's time for her to be in kindergarten." Gene said.
"Gene she's too young maybe next year or maybe never." Paul said.
"Paul I know it's hard for you but it's our job as parents do what's best and as her father I insist we enroll her right away." Gene said.
Paul thought about it then started crying.
"Honey what's wrong?" Gene asked.
"Our baby is growing up too fast." Paul sobbed.
"Oh mama it's ok it's just daycare." Gene said as he cuddled Paul close.
"Yeah daycare then she'll be married and have children and we'll never get to see her often." Paul said as he continued sobbing. "My baby needs to stop growing."
"Oh sweetie come here it's ok." Gene said comforting his husband.
Paul continued crying as he hugged Gene.
After they enrolled Luna, it was finally her first day of daycare. The teacher talked to Paul and Gene while Luna sat on Paul's lap.
"Don't worry you're little one will have a fun time here." The teacher said.
"We hope she'll make new friends." Gene said.
"Oh don't worry Mr Simmons, kids her age tend to get along easily so I doubt she won't have trouble." The teacher said.
"Well come along Luna I'll have you play while Ms martin talk your mommy and daddy." The other teacher said.
Paul started kissing his daughter face and hugged her tight and Gene hugged her and kissed her cheek and forehead.
"Be good my little star. Daddy loves you bye sweetheart." Gene said.
"Bye my little angel." Paul said. "Mommy loves you."
The other teacher held Luna's hand as Luna waved bye to her parents. After the door closed, Paul started crying.
"Now Paul we talked about this. It's ok try to calm down." Gene said comforting his husband.
"Oh don't worry about Mr Simmons. I've see parents cry many times when they enroll their children to daycare." Ms Martin said sweetly. "I understand I went through the same with my children."
"Thank you for understanding. It's seems like yesterday she was born." Paul said as he wiped his tears.
"Oh don't worry hun I understand. I assure you we'll make sure your child is comfortable and safe here." Ms Martin said. "I'll see you at two when it's time for dismissal."
Paul and Gene went home. Paul started crying again.
"Oh sweetheart I know this hard for you it's hard for me too trust me we did the right thing." Gene said.
"I know Gene. I just don't want her to feel we neglected her or we don't love her anymore." Paul said.
"Paul she knows we still love her and we would never neglect her." Gene said. "Now come on we can cuddle in our bed and watch tv."
Paul followed Gene upstairs. They watched tv and cuddled while Paul was basically having a staring contest at the clock to see if it's two o'clock yet.
"Honey stop worrying she's fine. Your ancestors are watching over her." Gene said.
"I know but our little girl is probably crying or she probably got hurt." Paul said.
"If she got hurt, the teacher will tell us." Gene said as he cuddled his worried husband.
"Ok if you say so." Paul said.
It was finally two o'clock they picked up Luna but Paul wanted to ask Ms Martin how Luna was.
"She was fine. She was having fun with all the other children and I'm sure you'll love to take this." Ms Martin said.
Ms Martin gave Paul a painting.
"Oh my God Gene look her first school painting." Paul said.
"Aww isn't that beautiful." Gene said as he was holding Luna.
"Thank you so much." Paul said.
"Of course. Bye Luna I'll see you Monday." Ms Martin said.
Luna waved and said "bye bye."
"See I told ya she'd be fine." Gene said.
"Yeah you're right." Paul said.
They both kissed then kissed their daughter on each cheek.
