I just stare at him, a little confused but almost...pleased? He looks around, his mouth slightly opened, searching for answers. He tightened his grip around me, almost cradling my upper body. "I...well...I just thought that...sorry-" he says, clearly upset. "No, no I didn't mean that Cone! I was just a little taken aback...thats all-" I stare at my hands, trying to figure out how to make him feel better.

"Do you...prefer if I don't call you that?" he says, his voice almost...breaking? He looked really upset, not in his face but...in his eyes. "No, no Cone...I really don't mind" I look up at him, trying to meet his gaze. He stills seems upset. "Cone?" He turns his face towards mine, a tear falling from his eye. I sit up, my lower body laying in his lap. I cup his face in my hand, wiping the tear with my fingertip.

I noticed his eyes now staring at me, his cheeks bright red. He was almost frozen, as if he was falling for me. I know he didn't mean what he said earlier. But...what if he did? I mean, I could just go for it. You never know. But he's so platonic...what if he was just joking? I don't want to lose him as my friend...but...I want him to be my boyfriend. So...do I just go for it.

"Babe-" He try to get out a sentence, but only releases one word. "Mmm-" I hum, tracing his face with my fingertips. I move my fingers up to his hair, twisting his curls around my finger. His face seems to have calmed down a bit, still on edge. He wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me slightly closer to him. I feel his breath against my lips, our noses almost touching. This was it. And then...

RIIIIINGGGGG

We both jump off of each other, his breath still lingering on my lips. "I...um...I'm sorry...it's Ash...I should probably take this....you understand-"

"Yeah totally!" I get up from the ground, trying to compose myself. That was an accident or something. He didn't mean it. I won't try again.

A few minutes later, he returns to the room. "Um...sorry-" He looks kind of embarrassed. "It's fine, we should probably go to sleep"

"Yeah you're right" We walked back into the room and got into the bed. Conan closed the door, then turned off the lights. I heard his footsteps walking over to the bed, then felt the shift as he sat down. I could see in the dim light, he was sitting with his arms wrapped around his shins, resting his head on his knees. I shifted to be closer to him, resting my head on his shoulder.

"I thought you needed to sleep" he says, his voice calm. "Yeah, well-" I don't finish my sentence, as he puts his arm around me. He then shifts to be laying down, arm still underneath me. His arm wraps around my lower waist as the other curves over me and to my back. I place both of my hands on his chest, staring at him. "Is...this okay?" he asks, as if making sure I wasn't hurt or something. "Mmm, perfectly fine" I say, wrapping my arms underneath his and around to his back, resting my head on his chest.

After a moment of silent breathing, I drifted off into sleep.
