YOKO

One Month Later

Yoko smells the sweet scent before Marissa can entirely open her office door. Bouquets of flowers greeted the two of them.

The colorful petals and buds are annoyingly bright in her rather dull office. It seems so out of place.

Her forehead creased.

What a way to ruin her morning, huh?

She drops her handbag soundly on her desk before putting a hand on her waist.

"Can you just throw it all out?"

When Faye sent her plants last time, she didn't know she'd sent some flowers again.

Marissa scans the cards on each of the bouquets.

"Hey! It's mine. From Ice."

"All of it?"

"Don't sound so disappointed now."

Yoko scoffs. "I'm not!"

"Envious, then?"

This young woman is impossible!

Before she can think of a retort, Marissa reads another card and cooed. "Happy first month, babe! Awww."

"Is that like a — Monthsary? You kid celebrate that?"

"Oh, come on. It's not that childish. You know what's childish, though?"

Marissa stares at her challenging.

"What?"

"Having a beef with a four-year-old!"

"Hey, I'm not fighting with that kid!"

"Yeah. If you say so."

When she told Marissa that her bodyguard isn't coming to the office anymore and the reason behind it, the young woman didn't ask anymore questions.

But sometimes, Marissa reminds her in her own way, what a ridiculous decision it is to fire Faye.

"We're having dinner tonight. Ice said you could come," Marissa said pulling her out of her thoughts.

"Sorry, I have to pass. I have a press conference tomorrow. I need to prepare."

Marissa pouts her lips. "Okay. Oh!"

The young woman's squeal makes Yoko come quickly to her side.

"Your mom's calling me."

She reminds the young woman that her original phone is still off as per the police's advice.

It seems like Sakda is slippery, unlike what the police's first thought and hacking and tracking her is now on their lists of possibilities.

For the inconveniences he's causing, Yoko is starting to hate the escaped convict for real.

Marissa passes the phone to her.

"Hi mom! How's Italy?"

"Buongiorno! How's my baby?"

Thankfully, only Marissa is around to hear that.

"Buongiorno, Mom Dao!" Marissa exclaims.

Yoko switches to speaker phone as she walks to her table.

"Marissa said hi! You're on speaker."

"Oh! How's the young lady?"

She grabs the phone and shows Marissa. The young woman waves giddily.
