To my dear Muichiro, who shows not a single hint of atonement:
I wonder if you'll feel the same guilt about marrying him as you did about betraying me...
I searched the body for something I could use to my advantage. In his pocket, I found a key. With it, I locked the bedroom door. When I was done, I put the key back in the groom's pocket. There shouldn't be anyone else wandering in here. Now, the question of how I'll get out. I looked around the room and noticed a necklace.
I picked up the body and put it in the closet, tying it shut with the necklace. Then I went to the bathroom. I saw a window I could use to get out since no one was out there right now. I checked the sink and took some cleaning supplies, cleaning up the stains from the body. Then I removed my bloody clothes. I had thought about this in advance and had some clean ones underneath. I hid my dirty clothes and jumped out the window.
As I landed softly on the grass outside, I noticed a dog tied to a leash. I used the knife to cut the dog off the leash. The dog ran off, and I could hear people screaming, "Catch her! She's going for the cake!" from far away. Quickly, now that everyone was distracted, I went to the area where the groomsmen were. Now that they were gone, I threw my bloody clothes into the fire, watching them sizzle and burn. Then I walked into the other room as I heard them come back. I listened to their conversation.
"Pfft—haha! Did you see his face when he bumped into that girl the other night—Misha, right?"
"Yeah, Misha!"
"Oh please, nothing happened between those two."
"I'm not saying anything did."
"I heard they met during the New Year's party."
"Woah, really? From who?"
"Seo said so."
"Him? He's starting up drama every time I see him. He exaggerates everything!"
"D'you think they hooked up? He got real angsty when she showed up the other night."
"Nah, he hasn't been like that since uni. He probably just got embarrassed. It's awkward seeing an acquaintance while out drinking—especially during a bachelor's party."
"Let's just count ourselves lucky Seo wasn't around. You just know he would have been the first one to start the rumors, Ren."
The group laughed in agreement and continued their discussion.
Knowing this information, I snuck out and walked to a group of people dressed in bridesmaid dresses. I told them what I had heard, and they were shocked and slightly angry upon hearing this. They thanked me for telling them, and I left as they whispered amongst each other. Then I talked to the groom's immediate family. They liked me, and I would say I played off my alibi even more. Then Muichiro came up to me, firmly grabbing my wrist.
"Tanjiro, I've been meaning to talk to you," he said in a serious tone.
"What a coincidence, me too," I said, acting like nothing had happened.
"Privately," he said.
"Sounds like yesterday with all these guests around us," I said, smiling.
"The bedroom should work fine," he said.
"The bedroom? Wonder what the groom would think of you saying that," I said, joking around.
"You know exactly what I meant," he said angrily.
"Sounds great, lead the way," I said.
"...This way," he said, walking to the bedroom and unlocking it. We walked over to the closet and stood there looking at each other.
