FROM LAST CHAPTER

Dustin had explained everything to them, well... the best that he could. It was a lot to understand. "Wait a sec. How big?" Steve asked him.

Dustin held up his fingers, "First it was like that. Now he's like this." he extended both of his hands to about the length of a foot.

Steve scoffed, "I swear to god, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?"

"It's not a lizard." Dustin insisted.

"How do you know that?" Aubrey asked him.

"How do I know if it's not?" Dustin replied.

"Yeah, how do you know it's not just a lizard?!" Steve replied, fed up.

"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat!" he added, silencing everyone.

Aubrey stared ahead of them, in terror, then turned around to Dustin, "Mews?" she frowned.

"Yes, Mews. It was very sad." Dustin replied.

She looked over at Steve, "How are you being normal about this?" she asked him.

He shrugged, "I didn't know Mews..."

"You don't need to know Mews, it's Mews!" she replied, "A whole fucking cat." she said, in utter horror. She stared back at the road ahead of her, why the hell did she get herself into this?

They pulled onto Dustin's road and parked. Steve opened his trunk and grabbed a bat. THE bat, the one with the nails. The one that he saved Aubrey's life with a year ago.

Dustin led them over to his tornado shelter that was behind his house. Where he allegedly had trapped this thing.

Steve walked up to the doors of it, Aubrey right behind him, he leaned forward, "I don't hear shit." he said.

"He's in there."

"Are you sure?" Aubrey looked at him, Dustin nodded his head up and down profusely.

Steve lightly hit the bat on the handles of the doors, causing a rattle. Nothing. It didn't sound like anything was in there, especially not some cat-eating-lizard. He hit the doors harder, again. Still, nothing.

Steve turned, flashing the light directly in Dustin's face, "Alright, listen, kid. I swear, if this is some sort of Halloween prank, you're dead."

"It's not."

"Alright?"

"It's not a prank." Dustin told him, "Get that out of my face." he squinted at the flashlight.

"You got a key for this thing?" Steve asked him, Dustin dug into his pockets then threw him the key.

Steve leaned down and unlocked it, then carefully opened one of the doors, he didn't see anything. He opened both doors, Aubrey shined the flashlight down inside of it.

"Let me see that." Steve took the light from her, shining it inside himself.

Dustin sighed, "He must be further down there." he said, "I'll stay up here in case he tries to... escape." Steve and Aubrey stared at Dustin, in disbelief.
