It was about 45 minutes later that Butcher looked down at Athena in his arms to see her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling at a steady pace, she was asleep. He wasn't surprised. She had had a long day parading around for cameras. In all honesty, he thought she would've nodded off sooner. Gently getting up, making sure she didn't fall from her position by holding her up slightly, he hooked his arms under her legs and lifted her off the couch, considering her strength he expected her to weight more but she didn't, making it easier for him to carry her up the stairs and to her bedroom. He lay her in bed and leant over her to grab the duvet. As he was pulling it back, Athenas hand grabbed his forearm. Butcher nearly jumped out of his skin at the sudden movement. He looked down at her to see that her eyes weren't even open. "Stay." she murmured, lightly tugging him down towards her. He stopped and thought for a moment before shifting her to the side, allowing him room to get in beside her. She instantly wrapped an arm around his torso, smiling in her sleep.
Butcher didn't really know what else to do besides put his arm around her and hold her while she slept. It felt nice, admittedly a little strange and foreign to him, but it was nice. He listened to the soft sound of her breathing that eventually lulled him to sleep.
When the sun started to seep in through the windows, Athena squinted her eyes trying to avoid it, but that's when she felt that there was a weight on her, shifting slightly she quickly realised that the weight on her was Billy, she was curled up on her side and him behind, an arm wrapped around her waist as they had slept. "fuck." She whispered, shifting herself again, trying to get out of the mans grasp, but it was useless as once she tried moving, Butchers grip tightened, "Becca...stay in bed." He mumbled and that's when Athena shot up, causing Butcher to shake awake as well.
"Good morning." She said curtly, walking into the ensuite without sparing him a second glance. Butcher shrugged it off, not realising that he had just been mumbling his wife's name while in bed with another woman.
When Athena finally came out of the bathroom, Butcher was no where to be seen in the bedroom, but the smell of food cooking was, meaning he was in the kitchen. She dried herself off and threw on some clothes, making her way downstairs to see what Billy was making. He was stood over the stove, and from the smell of it he was making bacon and pancakes for their breakfast, but just like yesterday, Butcher let his clumsiness in the kitchen come out as his elbow knocked the bowl of pancake batter off of the counter, he winced ready to hear the smash of the ceramic bowl, but there was nothing. Athena had her arm stretched out, controlling the air around them to stop the object from hitting the floor, it was lifted back onto the side and Butcher turned around fully to greet the woman. "Morning gorgeous" he gave a smirk, before pointing to her hands "I ain't never seen you use your powers like that before."
Athena shrugged, sitting on the stools of the kitchen island to wait for her meal, "Well considering you don't like Supes I haven't really been flaunting them in front of you." her tone was harsh and Butcher turned back around to serve her breakfast, "Well" he started "It is your house, don't let me stop you from using your powers." He appreciated the fact she had been doing that for him but there was also a feeling of guilt.
She hummed in response to him and began digging into her breakfast that he placed in front of her, she wanted to keep her stoic expression, but those pancakes tasted so fucking good she couldn't help but sink into her chair and enjoy them. "They nice yeah?" he asked rhetorically, seeing her reaction, she couldn't even respond she had scoffed her face so much, causing him to laugh as he plated up his own food and came to sit next to her. The pair sat in silence while they ate, that was, until Athena decided to let him know what he had said in his sleep. "You said Becca's name in your sleep."
The penny dropped as too why Athena had seemed hostile to him the past hour since they had woken up. "Oh.." was all he could muster as he sliced up a piece of bacon, not knowing what he could say to the woman, "I want to help you find her." now that nearly made him choke on his food, "You want to help?" he asked stunned.
"Yeah, the sooner you find her the sooner me and Prince have our house back." She didn't mean it, she liked having him in the house, but he was married at the end of the day, and Becca was in need of being rescued, Athena couldn't stand between that. Even Prince couldn't hide the fact he liked Butcher as he circled the mans chair meowing for attention. "I couldn't ask that of you love." she shook her head at him "Your'e not asking Butcher, I'm offering. Now let's think who can help you, and whatever you need I will try and get it."
Butcher had been thinking about someone he could go too, an old friend from his time in the British Royal Marines, Jock. He couldn't go to anyone else at the moment, it was too hot, everyone was on high alert for him and the boys, well, moreso him for Madelyn Stillwells murder. "There is someone I was thinking off to help...but you can't come with me." He picked up their empty plates and put them in the dishwasher "You're too well known Love." He had a point, but she still wanted to help. "You're not wrong, but at least let me find the guy you want because by the look of you, you can't remember where the hell he is."
She had him down to a 'T' she could read him well, and as impressive as it was, he didn't like it, someone having that much of an ability to read him wasn't a usual thing for him. "Well if you wanna do that, I won't say no." her eyes brightened like a child told she could play outside and she practically ran upstairs, Athena had her own private computer, not connected to Vought's servers meaning they couldn't track it. But that'd didn't mean she didn't have her own ways of finding information.
Going off Butchers way of carrying himself and his line of profession, she assumed British Royal Marines, given his age which was definitely late 30s early 40s, she guessed Falklands war, but after that changed to a CIA operative, which would explain his vigilante style group and how they had the connections they had. And there it was, Billy Butchers file, by hacking into all servers required she found him, and his history.
She didn't look at it.
As much as she wanted to know everything there was to know about this man, it felt invasive, she felt they had established a sense of trust and respect and she didn't want to break that, so she only looked at the things relevant. The only person he would have known that lives nearby was someone under the Alias "Jock" he lived about an hour away from New York, so this had to be the guy Butcher wanted help from.
She quickly scribbled the home address and phone number down and went back downstairs, where Butcher had just finished cleaning the kitchen up. "I found it!" She shouted halfway down the stairs. Billy put the cleaning cloth down and walked towards the living room, "You found him?" She nodded again as she came face to face with him, he couldn't contain his excitement as he picked her up and span her around causing a squeak to come out of her from suprise "You're fuckin brilliant." He put her back down and stared down into her eyes, no matter what, this woman kept suprising him. The staring went on a little two long before the pair coughed awkwardly, stepping away from each other. "I can buy you a car and you can go see him while I work?" She offered trying to break the awkward silence.
