The group shuffled on the feet at the uncomfortable sexual tension emanating from the pair. "Let's go...get the van." MM offered and the rest jumped at the opportunity to leave the room, leaving the pair alone.
"You don't seem too angry about me being here." Athena pointed out. Butcher shrugged, "Maybe I missed you." Those words filled her ears and she had to hold herself together as to not push him against the wall and have her way with him, "Or maybe-" she coughed, taking a step away from him, "-You had a near death experience with Black Noir and realised I might be helpful to keep around." Butcher didn't comment, which was all the answer she needed really, taking his silence as an opportunity to walk past him and to the other's, but she was surprised when she felt his hand grab hers and pull her back towards him, keeping her steady as he kissed her, and just like the first time they kissed, everything felt right, her hand rested on his shoulder holding him for balance. But there was a voice in Athenas head making her pull away slowly, it was Becca's, "I wouldn't put it past him to try and get rid of you too."
Butcher furrowed his brows slightly at her pulling away from him, but after looking In her eyes he understood. Athena couldn't be expected to just forget what had happened so easily, after all he did leave her at her doorstep saying they were over, and now he was trying to romance her like non of that happened. "We should err- join the others." Butcher nodded, following the woman up the stairs and out the back of the building where the group were waiting in the back alley, the van loaded up and ready to go.
No one said anything as they all crammed into the back, Frenchie and Marvin in the front as Marvin started to drive them towards their destination. Music softly played in the background as the mostly silent ride took place, the odd word here and there and the quiet murmur of Athena as she sat with Kimiko, the pair of them doing their best to colour in a child's colouring book on the uneven roads. Hughie and Annie seemed almost terrified to talk to each other in front of Billy, knowing he would be the first one to take the piss out of their affection for one another and rant about how Annie is just another Vought puppet. Athena knew that was the reason why]they were being quiet, and honestly she was shocked by the nerve of Butcher to have such an opinion when she herself was a Vought puppet in the past, and he seemed to like her, even if he displayed some bipolar behaviour regarding whatever their relationship was.
"Sage Grove, a proud subsidiary of Global Wellness Services, which is a subsidiary of..." MM started as he pulled the van up on some grass outside of the building, everyone hopping out one by one, "Vought, what a surprise." Athena finished, getting to the doors to step out, but stopped for a second as she saw Billy turn around and offer his hand out to help her down, she looked at it for a moment before choosing to neglect it and get out herself. As much as she wanted to trust him, as much as her heart told her too, her head was thinking rationally. Billy Butcher hated supes, and no matter how many moments they shared together, it didn't seem likely that that fact was ever going to change.
The plan was to send MM, Frenchie and Kimiko into the building with nurses uniforms on as a disguise, sneaking them in by having Athena slice the wired fencing but Annie wanted to join them "I should go in with them." "They can manage without one bony, blonde Supe." Butcher scoffed, earning a death glare from the girls older sister. "We could manage without one bullshitting brit" Athena snapped back, folding her arms, You just get them in and get the fuck back, yeah?" Billy made a shooing motion with his hand, to which she reluctantly walked away from despite wanting to just use her powers to throw a big chunk of dirt in his face. Hughie went to walk with the group but stopped, staying next to Butcher, watching as Athena created a small laser with her fingers and made a hole big enough for the trio to fit through. "You guys be careful." They nodded at the Supe and started their mission to sneak in.
The four that were left back at the van set up shop, making sure the radios were on the right channel. Butcher began handing out hand-guns t everyone but noticeably flinched when Annie grazed his hand when taking the fire-arm. "Seriously?' She put the gun into her pockets "What is your problem with me?" Athena shared a look with Hughie, both of them knowing that Annie was finally done with Butchers shit. The pair watched as they argued, with mostly Annie speaking while Billy sighed trying to ignore her, until she quoted him and Athenas stomach dropped once again, "Only good Supe is a dead Supe,
right? Your words, not mine." Hughie saw Athenas face, a mix of defeat and sadness showing as she watched on, the pain coming from Butchers non-denial of the statement. "That's enough." He tried to diffuse the situation, but it was a futile attempt. "You know what? Underneath all that swagger, you're just a bigot and a bully. I know another guy just like that.
He's got a flag for a cape."
"Annie enough!" Athena finally spoke, her voice echoing slightly in the large area, everyone froze and turned to her outburst, but before she could say anything more a loud whooshing sound was heard from above them, drawing their attention to the sky for a rather unwelcome sight "Oh fuck me." Billy groaned realising the supe in the sky was Liberty and she was heading straight into Sage Grove. "Hughie, call them. Now." Athena ordered, Butcher running to grab the binoculars from the van, while she enhanced her eyesight to look closer at the building, the bars on the windows blocked her vision making it hard to see what was going on.
Hughie got through too MM on the radio "You guys okay? Stormfront's in there." MM didn't sound as phased as they would've expected as he answered, "That ain't all who's here." Hughie tried getting him to answer again but there was nothing, which most likely meant they were hiding. "This is so fucked." Hughie stressed but the radio backs down and running his hands through his hair, Annie trying to comfort him. Butcher walked slowly over to Athena, noticing how her brows had furrowed together, arms had been crossed and she was tapping one foot against the grass, her gaze focused on the building. There hadn't been any concerning movement from the building, no powers being blasted so it was safe to assume that Liberty hadn't found them inside the building. "You know." He started "You're gonna hurt your eyes it you keep them zoomed in like a blood telescope." the attempt of banter fell flat as she retracted her eyesight and turned to him, "Well would you rather I not keep an eye on our friends?" her sarcastic tone and deadpan expression was all he needed to know that keeping an eye on the others wasn't the thing that was bothering her, and those suspicions were confirmed as she asked him, "Billy, what are we?"
