The Mortal Realm
The sun was setting over the bustling city, casting long shadows across the cobblestone streets. General Tang stood at the city gates, his armor gleaming in the fading light. Around him, his battalion prepared for the march to the borderlands, their faces set with grim determination. His wife, Fenghuang, stood beside the Governor, her eyes filled with unspoken fears. She clutched her husband's arm, her voice trembling as she spoke. "Promise me you will return safely."
General Tang smiled, though it did not reach his eyes. "I promise, my love. The Gods will watch over us."
The Governor stepped forward, placing a hand on Tang's shoulder. "May the blessings of the Gods be with you and your men. The borderlands are treacherous, but I have faith in your leadership."As the battalion began to move, Fenghuang watched her husband disappear into the distance, her heart heavy with dread. Despite her father's assurances, a sense of impending doom gnawed at her. She could not shake the feeling that something dark and terrible awaited them at the borderlands.
General Tang led his men through the rugged terrain, his mind focused on the mission ahead. He knew the dangers that lay in wait, but he was determined to protect his homeland from any threat. The borderlands were a place of legend and fear, where shadows whispered of ancient evils. Yet, Tang knew that he had no choice but to confront whatever horrors awaited them.
As night fell, the battalion made camp under the open sky. Tang stood at the edge of the camp, staring into the darkness. He could almost feel the eyes of unseen watchers, their gaze cold and malevolent. He prayed silently to the Gods for strength and guidance, knowing that the fate of many rested on his shoulders.
The Scorpion Demon Lands
The frozen landscape stretched endlessly, a stark expanse of ice and snow under the eerie glow of purple light emanating from beneath the towering mountains. Twisted trees, their leaves a haunting mix of white and dark blood red, dotted the terrain, casting strange, elongated shadows across the land.
Xie Zi Jing, the Scorpion Prince, rode atop his ebony steed, its breath visible in the frigid air. As he approached his father's palace, a fortress carved from the heart of a glacier, the air seemed to thicken with an ancient, dormant power. The palace's spires rose into the sky like the claws of a great beast, glistening ominously in the dim light.
