This story has been swirling around my head for quite some time but I couldn't find the courage to write it because I am no writer. Nevertheless, I have decided to take the plunge to just get it out of my head.
This story is based on my favourite...
"Who sent the message?" Ye Hua asked. "It's the North Sea Water Monarch, your second uncle Sang Ji. It was found written in the walls of a cave between Mount Buzhou and the Jade Mountain. As you can see, there are missing words in the text. The cave wall where it was found is badly damaged. Sang Ji tried to restore it but to no avail." Mo Yuan replied.
Ye Hua was sceptical about the prophecy but Mo Yuan is taking it seriously. The brothers discussed and agreed that they needed to learn more about it. They need to consult the celestial library which means talking to Dong Hua Di Jun. Mo Yuan agreed to talk to Di Jun and Ye Hua will try to learn the location of the red river for as far as both know there is no red river in the celestial realm.

TaichenPalace
Mo Yuan arrived in the Celestial Palace and was led straight to Taichen Palace. Si Ming met him at the door. "High God Mo Yuan, please follow me. Di Jun is waiting for you at the pagoda." Mo Yuan followed Si Ming through the lush garden of Taichen Palace. A profusion of roses, lavenders, jasmine, bluebells and peonies grew in abundance scenting the air with their sweet perfume. The ambience is as tranquil and as calming as the ancient god who is leaning on his side in a day bed with his left hand supporting his head and on his right hand a taoist sutra he's reading.
Bowing low with both hands extended and fingers touching Si Ming announced the arrival of Mo Yuan. "Di Jun, High God Mo Yuan is here to see you." Di Jun straightened from his seat and invited Mo Yuan to sit. Mo Yuan took the seat opposite him.
"What do I owe the pleasure of this visit to Mo Yuan? Has your brother calmed down from his disagreement with Tian Jun?" Chong Lin, Di Jun's manservant, arrived with tea and refreshment. He poured the tea and served them before withdrawing and moving away to stand in a discreet distance from the two high gods. He is ensuring that he is on hand should they require anything.
Mo Yuan studied Di Jun from the rim of his cup. Dong Hua Di Jun is the oldest of his friends and the supreme ruler who united the four seas and eight wildernesses until he retired. He now spends his time in idleness. He never involves himself in the affairs of the realm unless its something that threatens the peace and security of the four seas and eight wildernesses. "Ye Hua has calmed down and I support his decision about the marriage alliance that Hao De proposed. I want him to marry for love and live a happy life. But, that's not the reason why I am here. This one is." Mo Yuan replied before handing the bamboo scroll that contained the prophecy to Di Jun.
Di Jun reached out for the scroll whilst inclining his head, indicating to Mo Yuan to continue. His face remained impassive. "It is a missive I received from the North Sea Monarch yesterday. It contained an account of writings in a cave that Sang Ji and his men found near the Jade Mountain. I think it's a prophecy."
"A prophecy?...mmm.." Di Jun unrolled the scroll and quickly read the contents. His eyes widened in surprise then concern before the inscrutable mask was back in place. He put the scroll down. Picked up his tea cup and took a sip then put it down before giving Mo Yuan his full attention. "It is indeed a prophecy of what still to come and yet to pass. It seems to also involve the one name I removed from the Rock of Incantations. It looks like fate has decided that it has not finished with me yet"
Mo Yuan looked in shock at Di Jun. He was aware along with everyone else that Di Jun removed his name from the Rock of Incantations so he can concentrate all his energy in uniting the realms without the emotional distractions that a fated one brings.
"Are you saying that the woman in the prophecy is your fated one?" Mo Yuan asked. Di Jun told Mo Yuan that the first woman is his fated one but the one that bears the mark of his and Ye Hua's mother is a different woman. Di Jun knows that his fated one has been born but to whom he doesn't know. He felt the pull in his heart the day she entered the world. He was curious of which family she was born to but he decided against seeking her out because he knows that there is no future for them. It's the price both of them had to pay for his choice.
He thought that it was best that they remain unknown to each other so she can forge a happy life but it is clear now that fate has other plans. He needs to find her to protect her from what is to come.
"Leave this with me. There is much to study about this prophecy. I will check the archives." He told Mo Yuan before leading him out of Taichen Palace. "I will see you in Kunlun in a week's time and tell Ye Hua to be there."

Mo Yuan watched Di Jun head towards the celestial archives. His friend maintained his stoic demeanor but he can feel that his essence is unsettled. The prophecy has affected him more than he showed. There is something that Di Jun is not sharing. Mo Yuan caught a cloud back to Kunlun mountain. His mind on the woman that carries the mark of his mother. Who she is and where she is. Is she a real woman or a metaphorical representation of something else?
