Chapter 9 ~ Jess

9. 'Time of our lives'

As soon I got out of my hospital bed, I decided things are changing. Hey, I had had a near death experience, I get to do the 'new-me' shit, like people do every new year and never actually change stuff. But really, I am going to change stuff.

When a first chance showed up, I shooed everyone except Nick out of the loft to have a stay-at-home and try-to-cook-a-dinner kind of date. Key word: try. We are definitely no chefs, but we are having the time of our lives. Flour is all over the place, eggs are broken, milk is spilled but we are laughing like two stupid teenagers. I have never felt more alive in my entire life. As he pulls me into a kiss, I whisper: 'I haven't felt this happy in a long time.' We continue our make out session and I am already sure his nod is all response I'm going to get when he whispers back: 'I've never been this happy.' I smile like a little kid as I'm just appreciating the moment when he picks me up like a bride and carries me to his bedroom. Well, the rest is up to your imagination...

'NICK! JESS! WHAT. THE. HELL. HAPPENED. TO. THE. KITCHEN??????????', Schmidt's voice rings through the whole loft. Nick and I jump from our beds, both scared to death. Pissed off Schmidt is to be afraid of. Still, we both laugh as we put on clothes and run to the kitchen. I start,
'Schmidt, I'm so sorry we are going to clean this up right no-'.
'DAMN RIGHT YOU WILL! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! CLEAN IT!', Schmidt is not any calmer.
'Dude, we got this. Just calm down.', Nick interferes and I nod.
'Okay. Okay. I'm getting out of here. Clean it!', he yells as he leaves the loft.
As soon as he's out, Nick and I start laughing again. When we catch our breaths, he speaks:
'I've never seen him like that!', he says as we both start laughing again.
'He was so pissed it was just hilarious.', I add.
'Let's just clean this mess.', he says as I, for the first time this morning, actually look at the kitchen. And oh boy. I didn't realize how bad it was. Words can't describe the mess we made. There was food all over floor, cupboards, stove, fridge... It was everywhere. We sure had a lot of work at our hands.
'This is going to take hours', Nick murmurs as we get on with cleaning and I just silently nod in agreement.
