ROSHNI
I glanced at the bedside clock and realized it is already 2 in the morning. Despite feeling exhausted, I couldn't fall asleep. Instead, I'm laying on the bed and gazing out of the window from the past four hours. I tried to distract myself by scrolling through my social media but nothing worked. And eventually, I found myself staring out into the darkness from my window.
I'm feeling strange... I don't understand what I'm feeling. Other brides might be shedding tears at the thought of leaving their family and home, but I'm not experiencing any of those emotions. I think I'm abnormal!
With a sigh I continued to lay on my bed, unable to fall asleep. My phone suddenly vibrated on bedside table, jolting me out of my thoughts.
"Who on earth is calling me at 2 AM?" I thought to myself and reached over to pick up my phone, noticing that it was Aman calling.
"Hello?" I answered, my voice was soft and a bit raspy from my restless state.
"Hey, why aren't you asleep yet? Are you planning to run away from the wedding tomorrow?" He inquired with a hint of laughter in his voice.
"Yes, I was indeed planning, but the main problem is that I don't have anyone to run away with!" I responded with a touch of humor.
"Oh, that's so sad!" He replied with a hint of sarcasm. "But I can help you with that."
"How?" I asked curiously, smiling at the phone.
"It's 2:15 now, I'll be in front of your house at exactly 2:45. Take a blanket, tie one end to your bedroom window, and come down. Let's escape from this marriage." I couldn't help but giggle.
"But where will we go?" I inquired with a little excitement welling up inside me.
"We'll go far away, far, very far from here. I promise, I'll always make you happy, forever and ever." My heart fluttered with excitement and I suppressed a smile from spreading across my face.
"We'll go far away, to a small, quite and a peaceful village. We'll buy a small little house right next to a lake." He continued.
"There will be many trees around the house, and birds too!" I said excitedly, picturing the scenery in my mind. "And a little garden as well!" I added.
"We'll have lots of kids and we'll live happily and peacefully forever." He said like a dream. "We'll witness their first steps, see them grow up, watch them live their lives, marry their soulmates, and play with our cute grandchildren." His voice was filled with warm love.
"Promise me, we won't force our kids to have a huge, wedding like the one we're about to have." I interjected.
He chuckled softly, "I won't force them, but if they want a grand wedding, we can't stop them, right?"
"No, no. If they want a grand celebration, then let it be. Their happiness is what matters most to us." I agreed smiling wholeheartedly.
There was a moment of silence and I could hear him smiling on the other end of the phone.
"You didn't told me why you're still awake at this hour." He inquired, with a hint of curiosity.
"I don't know.. I'm feeling a lot of things, all at once." I admitted.
"Are you feeling scared?" He asked gently.
"I'm feeling scared, excited, nervous, happy... I'm feeling everything at once." I sighed. "I'm so excited and happy to marry you, but what if I slip and fall while walking? What if I mess everything up? What if everyone ends up hating me?"
