~ Aneira's POV ~
I hadn't even noticed that I had fallen asleep until I woke up in the morning, my body aching for a reason unknown to me. I sat up in my sleeping bag, looking towards Sage who was still asleep next to me. I grabbed a rolled up blanket we had been using as a pillow and threw it at her head, causing her eyes to snap open, as she scrambled to get up. A laugh slipped through my lips, before I slowly picked myself up off the ground, my legs almost buckling. My brows furrowed in frustration, before I finally stood upright. I reached for my hair, tying it up in a messy ponytail and exited the tent, leaving Sage to get herself together. My knives and sword were sitting just outside the tent, I grabbed each one, slipping them into the straps around my thighs, waist, and hips.
My head snapped up as I had heard some footsteps, and I met Alarics' gaze. I quickly looked away, rolling my eyes in annoyance before hearing him step closer. "The sun has barely come up and you're already upset with me?" He gasped in a mockingly sad tone, putting his hand over his heart. I let out a groan, turning to face him with a hand on my hip. "I am not upset with you, you're just annoying and an idiot. Now I would appreciate it if you hurry your ass up and get ready to go." I replied coldly, glaring daggers at him before he let out a laugh, turning on his heel and walking away. God the nerve this pathetic man has. What even was his problem? I scoffed to myself, lost in thought. I made my way over to the dogs, untying them and allowing them to roam for a few minutes.
------------------------------------------
About an hour had passed since everyone had woken up and set off. I was walking ahead of the group, following behind the dogs as they tracked the sent. I had my hand above my sword the whole time, on edge from the things I had seen. I wasn't going to leave that horrid place without her. I'll be damned if I let her slip through my fingers again. I was just silently praying that we weren't too late. I stayed close behind the dogs, constantly checking my surroundings and making sure the others were keeping up. It infuriated me that my father made me bring them, I could've handled this on my own, but he insisted. They just slowed me down. All of a sudden Flynn plopped down into a sit, letting a low growl erupt from his chest, Tobias mirroring his actions. I held up a hand, stopping the group from walking any further. I peeked over the bushes, and there it was. There was a huge mansion like house, it was a tan color, the gate surrounding it white as snow. My brows furrowed as my eyes scanned the area, and then I saw it.
A gasp escaped my lips as my eyes landed on a small brown shed, a few meters away from the mansion, outside the gate. It looked similar to the one in my visions. I felt my heart sink as I saw blood stains on the door. I quickly called the others over. "That's where they're keeping her. I saw it when I fainted, I'm sure of it." I explained, pointing at the shed. The whole group exchanged glances before nodding. I inhaled for a second, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. We didn't have a plan, but I wasn't going to wait around and make one. We could take whoever was in there, I was sure of it. I stood out from behind the bushes, carefully sneaking to the door, the others following close behind. I sucked in a sharp breath, swinging the door open and unsheathing my blade. It felt like the wind had been knocked out of me when I saw her.
She was tied up to the same chains, but she looked like she had given up. Her head hung low, and the remaining of her clothes ripped in all different places. I felt my chest tighten before realizing nobody was inside besides Laena, so I worked quickly. I rushed to my best friend, the others and the dogs following, Sage closing the door behind her. I grabbed Laena's face in y hands, caressing her cheek and moving her jet black hair out of her face. It was normally brushed and as soft as silk, but now it was matted and rough. I held back a sob, swallowing the lump in my throat before lifting her head to meet my gaze. "My dear Laena its me, Aneira. I've come to save you, I am going to get you out of these chains alright?" I reassured her, but she didn't reply. Her eyes met mine and I saw nothing, she was empty, lacking of emotion. I searched her eyes for any trace of the happy girl I knew, but it was as if she was gone. Laena's seemingly empty eyes welled with tears as she stared at me, taking in my features. I quickly began undoing the ties around her wrists, earning a wince from Laena, her rists marked and red from the force of the chains. Her knees buckled as soon as she was released from the chains, I caught her in my arms, shrugging off my jacket and draping it over her.
