Clove's POV
I walk up to Cato's house and knock on the door. His mom answers and calls up the stairs for Cato to get his lazy butt down. "Late again?" I ask.
"When isn't that boy late?" She replies with a grin. " Do you want anything to take on the road?" She ask.
"Thank you but, I'm fine," I reply. Just as I am about to call up stairs he comes tripping down the steps. We go on our way to the center.
"How was last night?" He asked me as we walked side by side down the cobble road.
"Well, it was pretty okay, dad wasn't home so that's always a plus." My dad wasn't always a drunk. After my mother died he just lost control, drinking his life away to ease the pain of losing her. Sometimes I think about my mom, but then I remember that she is looking down on me. I'm going to win the games for her, and for Cato too I guess. We continue to walk down the isolated street until we get to the center, that also doubles as a school. I hate school work, training is the only reason I come anyways. We approach the school building, time to go our seperate ways.
"I will see you at training, Clover." Cato said sadly. He hates school just as much as I do, which is a lot.
"I will meet you at spears." I say as we go oppiset directions. I walk into the building ready to face the day.
Cato's POV
As me and Clove go our seperate ways I walk into the classroom, oh joy, math. I mean really, is math gonna help me win the games? I dont think so. I begin to day dream about Clove. Her long, dark hair and emerald green eyes. I would do anything for her. The 10 o'clock bell shook me back into reality. Thank goodness, time for training. I walked out of the classroom and am greeted by no other than my shallow friend Dustin. See the thing about Dustin is he doesn't know when to draw the line.
"Hey Cato, do you think you can set me up on a date with Clove?" . Haha he actually thinks I might set him up with my girl. Well, she isn't technically my girl, but when you are best friends with someone for 10 years they pretty much are. This guy is not good enough for my Clove, I guess from my view no one is good enough for her but especially not Dustin.
"Ehh that's not a good idea bro, I don't think that your really her type." I said.
"Well than what is her type?" He asked.
"Strong, charming, not you," I said with a mischievous grin.
"Oh, I see, someone wants her for himself. "
"Maybe, I guess you'll just have to wait and see," I said
"Not if i get her first" exclaimed Dustin. What a joke.
" I don't think Clove would go for a guy like you."
"Why not? You think she would rather have you? Well if it makes you feel any better I just liked her for her looks, good luck with the clueless **** ". Does he even know who he is? Who he is talking to? Nobody talks about her like that, especially when I'm around. He didn't even see it coming. As my fist collided with his face I looked around to see a crowd had formed to watch the conflict. I walked over to Dustin I picked him up by the collar, blood streaming from where I had made contact, and looked him straight in the eye.
"No one talks about my Clove like that, watch your mouth. "
