Not So Mean

Chapter. 15

"Phil?"

The voice makes the quintessence-ghoul's ear twitch, and his head turns towards it, the soft purple haze that fills his vision slowly clouding around the shake of the person standing in his open door. "Sodo? What gives me the pleasure?" He asks with a small grin, now fully turning to the fire-ghoul.

He really wasn't doing anything special, honestly just sitting there and staring into nothingness.

"I wanted to ask you something.." Sodo answers while stepping into the room and pulling the door shut behind him. "About Swiss.. and his past.." He adds quietly.

The taller ghoul nods his head and lets out a soft hum. "I thought you wanted him to tell you everything."

"Y-yea.." He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. "I don't want to put more stress on him and make him remember stuff that he doesn't want to remember." 

The other's interest is peaked slightly, and he starts to listen more carefully to what Sodo is saying.

"I know that you know him the longest out of everyone here." Sodo continues, his gaze is fixated down on his fingers as he grazes his nails along the burn scars between his fingers. "You two have been summoned together and spend time together from day one.." 

"Naw, Swiss talks about me?" Phil asks, the small grin on his lips getting a bit bigger. "But yea, continue."

The fire-ghoul rubs a thumb over the bridge of his nose, debating internally if coming here was a good idea.

"You don't wanna know more about Chain, do you?" The taller ghoul asks before the other could answer. "I will not get into more detail with him, that, for that you will have to ask Swiss or go to Miasma, they are more than happy to talk her mouth out over him." 

"No, I don't want to know more about him." Sodo sighs and moves a hand through his hair, the white strands falling in front of his eyes rather than getting out of his face. "Well.. maybe I do, but only a bit, like, what did he look like? How did he act?"

"You want to know what Chain looked like and how he was to see how similar you both are?"

The fire-ghoul lets out a sigh while rubbing with one hand over the back of his neck.

"I'm right, aren't I?" Asks Phil after not hearing an answer to his previous question. 

"Yea.." Sodo admits reluctantly, his voice quiet as he speaks. "I don't know why, I'm jealous.. I know Chain is dead, and that of course Swiss still somewhat misses him. They were mated after all.. but I also know that he loves me, he tells me every time.." He starts to ramble. "But still, I'm so jealous about how he talked about Chain.. I just.. I want to know how similar we are and-"

"If Swiss sees you as a replacement for Chain." Phil finishes the shorter ghoul's sentence who only nods reluctantly. "I know, Swiss." He sighs. "He isn't together with you just because he sees you as a replacement for Chain. And I mean, sure, you two have similarities, but you both are still very different from one another. He is with you because he loves you, and he wants to be with you, not because he is still mourning a ghost from the past."

The fire-ghoul lets out a breath and nods his head. "Thank you for the reassuring.." He mutters quietly.

"How is he?" The taller questions, his voice carrying a very obvious tone of concern.

"He is sleeping now.. I spent like 10 minutes getting out of his arms to come here.." He admits with a small chuckle while scratching the back of his head.

"Okay, good." Phil sighs and nods his head. "You better go back to him and cuddle him. He really needs you right now.."

Sodo nods his head quickly. "Okay.. thank you again.." He smiles gently before walking out of the room. "Good night, Phil." The fire-ghoul days before closing the door behind him and walking to Swiss's room.

He slowly pushes the door open, making sure to be as quiet as possible as he steps into the room. The sight in front of him brought him back to when he first stepped into Swiss's room at night after having a particularly bad nightmare and remembering the offer that the multi-ghoul made him for comfort.

The taller ghoul lays on his side on the bed with his typical sleeping outfit, which just consists of sweatpants or sometimes just boxers. His body is fully unglamoured, his red marked skin on full display and the gill markings on his neck and sides, which would turn into real gills when he uses his water abilities or get into water, shimmer slightly under the soft shine of moonlight that falls through the still open curtains.

A soft smile spreads onto Sodo's lips as he sees Swiss curl up around the pillow that the fire-ghoul uses whenever he sleeps over and buries his head into it with a small grumble. He walks over to the window, pulling the curtains close as quietly as possible before sneaking over to the bed and gently pulls the pillow out of Swiss's arms, making the other grumble in protest and opens his eyes, looking up at the shorter with his white eyes. 

"Baby..?" He questions, his voice slightly raspy and sleepy.

"I'm coming to bed, Swiss.. don't worry." Sodo replies with a soft chuckle and sits down on the bed, his smile widening when the multi-ghoul wraps his arms around the shorter ghoul's waist and buries his face into the other's stomach. "Everything okay?" He asks while moving his hand into Swiss's hair, gently scratching and massaging his scalp.

The multi-ghoul nods his head and buries his face more into his boyfriend's stomach. "M love you.." He murmurs before pressing a kiss to Sodo's stomach through the shirt. "Very much.."

The shorter man smiles and lies down on the bed, making Swiss scoot up a bit and rest his head on the other's chest while Sodo continues to play with his partner's curls. "I you too.. a lot.."

The multi-ghoul purrs softly and closes his eyes again, slowly starting to drift off again, his tail coiling around the shorter ghoul's tail.

"You mean the absolute world to me.." He murmurs and buries his face into the taller ghoul's curls with a soft sigh.
