As they approached the headquarters, they could see the chaos outside. The gates were destroyed, and the ground was littered with debris. It was clear that Jeonghan had caused quite a commotion.
Seungcheol and Woozi exchanged a look. Jeonghan was certainly up to something.
They walked through the destroyed gates, carefully navigating the debris. Seungcheol's eyes scanned the area, looking for any sign of Jeonghan.
"Jeonghan!" he called out, his voice carrying through the air. "Where the hell are you?"
There was no answer. The only sound was the creaking of metal and the shuffling of broken glass. Seungcheol's patience was beginning to wear thin. Did Jeonghan think he could just show up and cause all this destruction without any consequences?
As Seungcheol and Woozi walked further into the compound, they were met with the sight of some of Seungcheol's men surrounding Jeonghan. The thief was standing in the middle of the wreckage, looking completely unfazed.
Seungcheol's eyes locked on Jeonghan, a surge of irritation coursing through his veins. "What the hell are you doing here?" he demanded, walking up to Jeonghan.
"Give me back my son." His voice unwavering.
Seungcheol's eyebrow raised at Jeonghan's words. "Your son? What are you talking about?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
But inside he was seething. Jeonghan had a son?
Jeonghan fixed Scoups with a steely glare. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. You took my son and threatened to hurt him if I don't give you the diamond. Well, here I am. Let Haneul go."
Seungcheol's surprise was genuine this time. He hadn't expected Jeonghan to actually come and bargain for his son's release. He had underestimated the thief again.
But he wasn't prepared to let Jeonghan have the upper hand either. "What makes you think I have your kid?" he asked, feigning ignorance.
Jeonghan's eyes narrowed, and he took a step closer to him. "Cut the crap, Scoups. I know you have Haneul. Don't play dumb with me."
"Jeonghan, I don't have your son."
Jeonghan's jaw clenched at his denial. "I don't believe you," he spat out, his voice laced with anger. "You have no reason to take Haneul unless you wanted something from me."
Seungcheol let out a sigh, his patience thinning. "Why the hell would I want your kid? I'm a gang leader, Jeonghan, not some sicko who abducts children for fun."
Jeonghan studied SCoups for a moment, his eyes searching for any sign of deceit. But he saw nothing but irritation and confusion on his face. Was it possible that he was telling the truth?
Jeonghan's mind was racing, trying to make sense of the situation. If he didn't have Haneul, then who did? He wracked his brain, trying to think of anyone who would target his son.
Seungcheol watched Jeonghan's facial expressions, studying him intently. The thief's confusion and frustration were visible, but there was something else there too. Desperation, fear.
Suddenly, a realization hit Seungcheol like a ton of bricks. Jeonghan truly believed that he had kidnapped his son. But why? And why did Jeonghan look so desperate?
A mix of shock and disbelief coursed through Seungcheol. The thought of Jeonghan having a child and being a father blew his mind. But it also tugged at his heartstrings, seeing the worry and anguish etched on Jeonghan's face. He wanted to ask more questions, to find out as much as he could about Jeonghan's life outside of their cat-and-mouse game. But now wasn't the time. They had more pressing matters to attend to.
