The standoff at the edge of the docks seemed to stretch on for an eternity, a tense silence enveloping the group as the faint hiss of wind and distant waves crashing against the shore filled the air.
Jeonghan’s grip on his weapon tightened. He wasn’t just facing Kyun now, but a dozen more armed men with their guns trained on his team. His pulse was hammering in his ears, but his resolve remained firm.
Kyun’s smirk hadn’t wavered, his eyes gleaming with malice as he looked at Jeonghan and the rest of the team, knowing they were surrounded. There was nowhere to hide. They were trapped.
“Looks like you’re out of options, Jeonghan.” Kyun taunted, his voice dripping with satisfaction. “You can’t win this fight. You can’t even escape.”
Jeonghan’s mind raced, assessing the situation. He could feel Seungcheol’s presence behind him, his sharp eyes scanning the scene for an opening.
Wonwoo and The8, the ever-calm strategists, were calculating their next move, their hands subtly resting on their own guns, prepared for action. The rest of the team was scattered. Hoshi, Mingyu, Vernon, Dino on the left side and Jun, Woozi, DK and Seungkwan on the right side taking cover where they could, but the odds were clearly stacked against them.
“I’m not giving up.” Jeonghan said through gritted teeth. “You don’t know who you’re dealing with, Kyun. This isn’t over.”
Kyun’s laughter echoed through the night, bouncing off the metal containers and adding to the claustrophobic tension. “Oh, I know exactly who you are. A man who thinks he can save the world, one failure at a time. You destroyed my brother, and now you’ll pay for it. All of you.”
The threat hung in the air like smoke, thick and suffocating, but Jeonghan wasn’t going to back down. He wasn’t going to let Kyun’s words rattle him. Not now, not when everything was on the line.
“You don’t need to be here.” Kyun continued, stepping back slightly, eyes gleaming. “I’ve already won. You’re all just pawns in my game, and you never even realized it.”
Without warning, one of Kyun’s men on the platform opened fire, a hail of bullets ricocheting off the nearby containers. It was a distraction, but it worked. The gunfire forced everyone to duck for cover, the team scattering to minimize their exposure.
“Move, move!” Seungcheol shouted, barking orders as he sprinted toward a nearby container, using it as cover. The rest of the team followed suit, weapons drawn, but every step felt like they were walking deeper into Kyun’s trap.
Jeonghan’s heart pounded, adrenaline surging as he sprinted for cover behind a large stack of shipping containers. The gunfire continued, sporadic but relentless. His thoughts flickered back to Haneul, his promise to protect his son, and the overwhelming desire to put an end to Kyun’s reign of terror.
“Don’t let them get away!” Kyun yelled from the top of the platform, his voice filled with arrogance. His men advanced, moving quickly and systematically, pushing the team further into a corner.
Jeonghan scanned the area, looking for any sign of an escape route, but the maze of containers offered little to work with. He could feel the weight of the situation bearing down on him, the pressure mounting as every second passed.
Seungcheol’s voice cut through the chaos. “We need to get to the higher ground. They have the advantage up there.”
Jeonghan nodded, his eyes narrowing. It was a risky move, but it was their only option. They had to disrupt Kyun’s control over the situation.
“Wonwoo.” Jeonghan called, his voice steady despite the tension. “Cover us while we make a move. We’re going to take out the snipers.”
Wonwoo didn’t respond verbally, but Jeonghan saw him shift into position, his sharp eyes scanning the top of the containers, calculating the trajectory of each shot, ready to strike.
