You and Stone sat together atop an abandoned building, overlooking most of the ramshackle town.

Under the stars, the dim yet glowing light set a nice atmosphere.

This wasn't an unusual practice for the two of you, especially because you were closer than most.

You might even consider yourselves good friends.

Stone pulled out a box of cigars, handing one to you, and taking one for himself before shoving it back into his coat pocket.

He took out his lighter and set it aflame, holding it between his teeth.

You retrieved your own lighter, holding it up to the tip of your cigarette.

You struggled with lighting it, assuming it was low on juice. Stone noticed and caught your attention with a low grunt.

"Oi."

He motioned for the cigarette, and you gave it to him. He lit it and returned it to you, his finger brushing lightly against yours as he did.

You thanked him silently, and he nodded, leaning back and taking a long drag.

Turning to face the view again, you leaned back yourself.

You raised it to your lips and inhaled, sighing as a plume of smoke began to grow into the brisk night sky.

The both of you sat there in silence for a bit.

Stone hummed faintly, before speaking:

"D'ya think Vinnie and Skipp'll get bored and come try and find us?"

You took a second before responding.

"Eh, they'll be alright. They'll find something to do, as always."
Stone shifted his gaze from you, to the town below.

"Mm. True enough. Those two can never sit still. Think it's because Skipp's got too much damn energy and Vinnie's got too much boredom."

"Yeah." You agreed, chuckling softly.

Stone exhaled a soft sigh, flicking the ash from the end of his cigarette onto the ground.

"They're bloody exhausting to deal with sometimes. Like children." He grumbled as he took another drag.

A small smile crept onto your lips, and you raised a single eyebrow.

Stone blew out some more smoke.

"Skipp is a good kid, I guess." The scrap mumbled. "Buuut, his dumbass needs to learn a bit of self control. And Vinnie- she's smart, yeah, but sometimes I think her brain can't get it through to her head that doing something stupid isn't worth it just for the fun of it."

"Yeh, you ain't so bad yerself." You joked, nudging his side with a fist.

Stone snorted, glancing down at you and flicking the ash off his cigarette again.

"Gee, thanks." He said flatly, a vague layer of sarcasm in his weary voice. "I guess I'm just an all-around charming guy."

You chuckled again, examining your cigarette against the view of the night sky.

It sure was pretty- or, would've been, if the whole place didn't look semi-abandoned.

You blew the ash off of your own cigarette and watched it float off with the breeze.
