The Lake
You were on your bed, scrolling through your phone as usual. And also as usual, your room was cluttered with various clothing and trash.
You heard a knock on your door.
"Come in."
You called drearily.
A creak followed by a head appeared through the doorway. You perked up upon hearing their voice.
"Hey- woah, seriously, you gotta clean up in here dude."
You looked up from your phone, swinging your legs off the bed and onto the floor.
"Dee? What're you doing here?"
Dimitri bent down to pick up the empty can he stepped on, grimacing slightly as he tossed it away. Before looking up at you with a smile.
"Your mom let me in." He explained, throwing a thumb over his shoulder. "Said she was glad I was finally here to get you outside."
You relaxed a bit, but crossed your arms against your chest to hide the numerous food stains.
"Outside?" You murmured in an uninterested response.
"Yeah, so get your lazy butt dressed in some actual clothes."
He joked, before holding up and revealing a small bucket labeled "fish bait", shaking it in the air.
"We're visiting the lake today."
You watched the trees roll by through the glass. You'd been on the road for about 10 to 15 minutes already. You shifted in the passenger's seat, adjusting your elbow you'd been leaning on by the window.
You glanced over at Dimitri in the driver's seat. He seemed to be doing well, excited even, although he still had a chill vibe to him- as always.
You definitely weren't very hyped about the lake; you never were when it came to the outdoors.
Dimitri was probably the only person that could drag you all the way out here like this– or just hang out with you in general.
You never quite understood how he was so good at it. In fact, there were a lot of things he was good at. Your mom could attest to that.
You turned to Dimitri again, opening your mouth to speak, before he spoke first, eyes still on the road ahead.
"We're almost there."
You sighed, turning back and slumped down a little.
Dimitri turned on the radio.
Rock music flickered on after a second.
"Fidlar, sick."
The both of you spent the rest of the trip listening and singing along with the music. (2 halves of the singing was done by Dimitri btw.)
Dimitri parked the truck along the dirt path marked by a log, taking the keys out and burying them in the pocket of his jeans.
A moment later the passenger car door opened as you unbuckled. You climbed out the car and helped Dimitri carry stuff down to the lake.
After you finished, you sat down on a rock to rest, shifting around to make yourself comfortable.
The lake was nice. The warm sun felt good with the light breeze too, and the rays glimmered off the water's calm surface in a picturesque way.
