Kenny drowsily sat up from his bed- which was more of a worn out and stained mattress topped with a few torn blankets and pillows.

Life was getting slightly better. Well, better for Kenny when he was anywhere but home. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary, and if anything- school was slightly more bearable- mostly because the teachers actually taught instead of ranting on about their sex lives, unlike their old elementary teacher. The town seemed to be in peace in general for once.

But this didn't include Kenny's home life. If anything: it got worse. His parents were almost always fighting, and they basically tried to kill each other every now and then. If they weren't at each other's throats, they were passed out in a drunken haze on the couch or at the bar.

Kenny's mother had gotten fired from her job at Olive Garden as her addiction to alcohol and drugs got worse. Money was running out quickly and his parents were both spending the rest of it,- which wasn't much, on alcohol. This led to food in the house running out rapidly as money became tighter. Kenny would've stepped up and got a job, but he was only fourteen, and the child labor laws had kicked in. The required age for a job in South Park was now sixteen, but there still weren't many jobs available for teenagers that young either.

Luckily, the house was eerily silent as Kenny got out of bed and picked up his orange parka from the floor. His parents were probably sleeping since they argued all night. Kenny usually remained awake late at night, listening to the screams of his parents. He could rarely find sleep.

Luckily, Karen always went to her friend Tricia's house for sleepovers, and she was barely ever home. Kenny was happy that she was at least fed at the Tucker house and there was a somewhat peaceful environment there. Kevin was always god-knows where.

Kenny didn't have to do much to get ready. He simply just put on his iconic orange parka and pulled the hood over his head tightly.

He opened the door his room gently, but he had to be careful not to do it suddenly or quickly, as the door was hanging off its hinges; the wood slowly starting to rot.

His dad had attempted to rip Kenny's door off multiple times when he was drunk and angry. He had succeeded on rare occasions, and Kenny had to put it back in place afterwards. However, the door never functioned properly again.

He sighed, realizing he had to hurry. He quickened his pace, not acknowledging his dad who was sprawled out on the floor in the middle of the messy living room; three empty beer cans on the floor beside him. He ran out of the front door that wasn't in better condition than the door to his room.

As he walked out of his house, he walked down the sidewalk towards the bus stop. He knew Stan, Kyle, and Cartman would be there. Cartman would be making insensitive jokes while Kyle threw a bunch of insults at him, Stan just watching. It was a predictable cycle, but Kenny couldn't say it really annoyed him.

As he neared the bus stop, his stomach started to growl. He didn't really notice the extent of the hunger he was feeling until now. It didn't seem to be bad at first, he was always hungry- it didn't matter how much food he ate; mainly due to the lack of food he'd always had since birth. However, it never seemed to be this bad.

He was always skinny and shorter then the rest of the kids his age in town, but he started to realize that he was starting to loose more weight as he looked down at himself. It was noticeable even through his parka.

Kenny sighed. He was so glad that Karen or even Kevin didn't have to deal with this. He knew he hadn't eaten in a while. Like mentioned, there was little to none food left in the fridge at home and his parents weren't doing anything about it.
but he had been through much worse.
