It had been a moon since Tiger had become leader and they were already almost to the mountains. "Wake up, Stonefoot," a paw prodded Stonepaw in the stomach. "It's Stonepaw," he murmured sleepily. "Yeah, well I guess Stonepaw doesn't want to have his dawn meal," Tiger meowed as if it was no big deal, "More for me, then." "Why do you torture me," Stonepaw groaned as he heaved himself out from under the gorse bush. There was a large rabbit laying right in front of him. "Now who's torturing you?" Tiger asked as if she didn't hear him. "Nocat whatsoever!" he grinned. "So you went out hunting, I see," Stonepaw meowed, taking a bite out of the rabbit's hind leg. "Yeah, you lazy cat! If you want to get strong, your routine is not the way to do it," Tiger teased. Stonepaw smiled up at her. "But seriously, you have gotten stronger from the first time I've seen you. You were such a weakling then," she mewed. "I was half drowned," Stonepaw reminded her. "Whatever. So we're probably going to get to the edge of the mountains by sundown," Tiger informed. "We can't climb them, can we?" Stonepaw asked. "Well no, it's not just a straight climb; but it is possible." "Well, obviously. But are we going to climb them?" he questioned irritably. "Yep! You wanted to go to the mountains, didn't you?" Tiger meowed enthusiastically. "Yes, that's what I want most in the world," he answered. Make that the second most wanted thing, Stonepaw thought as he looked in those beautiful eyes of Tiger, I wonder when I started to fall for her. "Well come on, Stonefoot! Move your molasses!" Tiger exclaimed impatiently. "You know what," Stonepaw meowed as he followed Tiger. "What?" she asked. "I would be made a warrior in about a moon if I stayed with ThunderClan," he informed her. "And..." Tiger flicked her tail in annoyance. "I was just saying," Stonepaw responded, glad to see Tiger irritated at the prospect of him back in the Clans. "Well you chose to leave your wild life behind, Stonefoot. You must learn to accept that we are going to the mountains and those wild cats are being left behind," Tiger meowed as if it was evident. "What would you do if I left?" Stonepaw dared to ask. "I'd continue the journey," she responded, not turning to face him. Stonepaw felt shattered. Did this she-cat really care so little for him? But then he asked himself, why did he care so much?
