Chapter 6 - You WILL do as I say!!!

Tee was furious with Nunew. How could he slap his best friend and do it in public? He wants to strangle the little pest. Where is the respect he is supposed to show to people older than him? He only heard about the incident today. He can't believe no one told him that it happened two days ago already

NUNEW!!!!! Tee shouted as he entered the house. Their mother came running from the kitchen asking why he was shouting.

Nunew slapped Zee in public in the mall two days ago Tee said. What! Prim Perdpiryawong said. Where is that boy she angrily said and they both went up the stairs to Nunew's room. Tee roughly opened the door startling Nunew who was at his desk writing on a notepad.

Why did you slap Zee? Tee shouted. How could you embarress us like that? What will the people think about us Prim said angrily. Did we not raise you to behave yourself and keep our image clean? How will I face the neighbors now? Everyone probably already heard what happened. You not just ungrateful but you are selfish Nunew. Both Tee and Prim was now towering over Nunew who sat and looked at them with wide eyes.

I'm sorry......Nunew started to say but Tee cut him of. You are sorry? Really? If you are sorry why did you do it in the first place. You did not only slapped my best friend but you embarrassed Mom and Dad. What must the Panichs now think of us.? He shouted. He was absolutely livid. Stop what you doing before I make you. I will not let you ruin our lives. Stop before I make you Tee snarled at Nunew not even seeing the tears streaming from Nunew's eyes. Leaving the room he looked back at Nunew. We have spoilt you all these years now you think you can do what you want. No wonder your friends cut you off. No one wants to be around a needy and clingy person. Tee stepped out while slamming the door shut behind him leaving Prim and Nunew alone.

What is your brother talking about? Prim asked with a strained voice. Her biggest fear is of losing their standing in the community and what ever problems are arising now must be dealt with swiftly. Nunew I'm talking to you she raised her voice. Not getting a response she grabbed his arm gripping it so tight that that a bruise starts to form. Nunew just sat the numbly not answering. He feels numb. Prim then grabbed Nunew's hair and tilt his head towards her and looked him in the eyes. I am fucking talking to you boy, answer me.

She's gonna hit me again Nunew thought steeling himself for the slap he knows that will come next. SMACK she hit him tbrough the face. It's not the first time this happened. He's been beaten for years. Slaps, being hit on his body where nobody could see the bruises. He grew numb. He feels the sting but he endure it. This was the Perdpiryawong family secret. No one knew. Although Tee did not compete in hitting him he knew about it and never tried to stop his parents. His dad is worse. He would use his belt on Nunew. All because they knew he liked boys and they will never accept that.

Prim left Nunew sobbing on his bed. You stay away from Zee she said. I will not allow you to sully our name and ruin our reputation.

Nunew did not go to school for a few days. His mother told his teachers that he is sick. Tee told Zee that Nunew is in one of his moods again and don't want to come out of his room.

All lies just to keep their good name.

Nunew was in fact locked up in his room. His face swollen and bruised from the beating his mother gave him.Given just the minimum food and water and his phone was taken away from him. He could not even go alone to the bathroom. He was watched like a criminal.

During these days Nunew wished that his grandparents were still alive. They would not allow his family to treat him like this. His biggest sin was to fall in love with a boy. A boy that will be a man soon. Was it so wrong to love someone of the same sex? The days dragged on and Nunew slept most of the time. Not wanting to be awake to feel. At least when he is at school he was kept busy and his mind would not wonder. What his parents did not know is that Nunew was in a an accelerate program at his school. They were so disinterested in his schooling that they did not know that he can actually graduate the next year. They were just focused on Tee and supporting him. Nunew plans to find out if he can even graduate earlier. He will take extra classes if necessary. His main focus now is for him to graduate and get out. When he graduate they can't touch him anymore. They thought he forgot what his grandparents left him.
