Chapter 19 - Betrayal

Zee woke up and stretched his hand put to Nunew who was supposed to lay beside him. He just felt an empty space. Confused he got out of bed in search of Nunew. As he went out of the bedroom he was met with a pair of eyes that were brimming with tears. Nunew was hiccuping as he tried to keep his tears at bay. Zee could not recognize the emotions that he saw in Nunew's eyes. Before he could say anything Nunew slapped him. Then he closed his fist and punched Zee making blood spurt out of his nose.  What the hell Nhu Zee exclaimed!

One hour before Zee woke up.

Nunew stretched himself like a lazy cat as he woke up. He looked to his love sleeping next to him and decided to let him sleep some more. He went to the bathroom to do his morning routine and remembered he never informed his uncles of the safe arrival. After he was done in the bathroom he dressed himself just in his boxers and one of Zee's shirts and set out to find his phone.  He found his phone in Zee's bag and was surprised that it was set on silent. He clearly remembered leaving it on the counter in the kitchen and he definitely did not put it on silent. He checked his phone and saw the wasn 13 missed calls from Zee's mom and dad and even more missed calls from Porche. He quickly dialed Zee's mom and waited anxiously for her to answer. Ma what's wrong Nunew asked when Peach answered. Nhu where are you baby Peach asked. He could hear that she was close to tears. I'm in Pattaya with Hia Ma he answered. Where is Zee now she asked. Hia is still sleeping Ma Nhu answered. What's wrong he asked. Why did you call me so many times? I see I have many missed calls from uncles as well. What is going on?

Nhu baby do you trust Ma? Peach asked. Yes Ma Nunew answered. Then you know that Ma and Pa will never lie to you right? Nunew was starting to feel nervous. Yes Ma he answered again. Tell me where you are exactly Peach said. Why Nunew asked but then he told her the address where he and Zee will be spending the next few days. Okay we are on our way to fetch you Peach answered.  Tell him what's going on Nunew could hear his Pa in the background. Don't wait till we get there. He deserves to know what is going on. I feel ashamed of what my son has done. Nunew started to shake.Ma what exactly  is going on Nunew asked his voice shaking as well. He felt so scared. Nunew,  Peach sobbed Zee has been married to Baifern for almost a year now. We found out last night. That's why we were trying to get hold of you. Zee phone is off and you didn't answer. My phone was on silent and I didn't Ma Nunew said without any emotion. He felt dead. He had no feeling. The man he loved the most in the world deceived him. He was used. He was an adulterer. He had a relationship with a married man. He SLEPT with a married man. Everything was a lie. Every word that his Hia told him was a lie. Zee was married already when he took him for the first time. He felt so cheap now thinking how lust full he was for a man he didn't know was already married.

What am I going to do now Nunew thought. He walked to the bedroom and got to the door just as Zee opened it.

Slap Nunew slapped Zee. Then he closed his fist and punched  Zee as blood spurt out of Zee's  nose. What the hell Nhu Zee shouted in shock. Nunew just walked passed him and grabbed his bag and started shoving his clothes in it. Nhu what's going on Zee asked confused and nervous. He had an idea but did not want to believe it. Nunew turned to Zee and looked at him with eyes that conveyed all his hurt and anger. You are married to Baifern? Nunew asked. Zee paled. Nhu I can explain he tried to say but Nunew cut him off. Explain what Hia? That you married to her almost a year? Or the fact that our first time making love was when you already was married to her? You made me your side piece, something to nibble on when you already have a wife. I trusted you Hia. I love you with everything I have and yet you do this to me? How did you want to explain that Hia? What excuse do you have for marrying a woman whom you are not even sure is indeed carrying your child? WHY hia? Tell me! Nunew shouted.

Zee finally spoke. Nhu I slept with her and I could not deny that it possibly could be my child. Plus she and her parents threatened to hurt you. Did you tell this to your parents Nunew asked. Yes Zee said and they said they would handle it. But Baifern and her parents were insistent. I was scared they would hurt you Nhu. Zee was crying now. So to prevent them from hurting me you hurt me instead Hia Nhu then said. He felt cold. He is rubbing his arms trying to get rid of the coldness in him. It didn't help though. It felt that the coldness consumed him. He turned away from Zee and continued to pack his clothes. He felt calm now. I am the most important person in my life he told himself. I have to love myself and do what's important to me. Me he thought again. I thought I was never good enough and I was right. Now it's just Me Myself and I.

Nunew walked out the condo with Zee begging him not to leave him to stay with him. Before closing the door Nunew turned to face Zee. If you were honest from the start Hia we would have found a solution for this problem you now have. I'm sure if you listened to your parents and if you confided in me it could have been us being married now. But you chose to ignore your parents and not trust me. Now deal with the consequences. I will not be you side piece anymore.

I hope you have a happy life with your wife and child Nunew said with tears streaming down his cheeks. He left the building not even bothering waiting on the Panichs. He went to the bus station to catch a bus to the airport. On his way there he phoned Peach to tell her to go back home as he is on his way to the airport.

What neither Zee or his family knew is that a long time would pass before they would see Nunew again.
