"Get your ass up, Valentina," Matteo snaps, shaking me awake with force

"Get your ass up, Valentina," Matteo snaps, shaking me awake with force. "What time is it?" I mumble, swatting at his hands.

"I've been trying to wake you for the last 20 minutes!" He sounds beyond frustrated.

"What's the rush?" I ask, still half-asleep.

"Because I've got shit to do and I can't leave you alone in my fucking house," he growls, dragging me out of bed.

"Calm down," I say, shuffling towards his bathroom. I start running my fingers through my hair, trying to make myself look decent. I'd slept in my dress from yesterday.

"Get a move on!" he roars.

I grab my bag and follow him down the stairs to the driveway, where his red Bugatti Chiron waits, gleaming under the morning sun.

I get in and buckle up, and he slams the car into gear, speeding off and entering the passcode for the gate.

"What's got your panties in a twist?" I ask, provoking him.

"I've got important fucking business, and now I'm going to be late because of you," he fumes.

"Well, if you'd told me yesterday, maybe I wouldn't have been late," I shoot back.

"You sleep like a fucking rock," he snaps. "I'll be back to pick you up at 5:30. Got it?"

"Why? Where are we going?" I ask, curious.

"My Aunt Maria's house. She's having a dinner and wants to meet your family," he tells me.

"Got it," I say, undoing my seatbelt and opening the door. "See you later." I slam the car door behind me.

I watched Valentina walk away, her figure growing smaller as she disappeared into her house

I watched Valentina walk away, her figure growing smaller as she disappeared into her house. I had hoped to get her out of the way quickly, but I was running late now, and my day was already shot to hell.

As I sped away from her driveway, my phone buzzed with a text from my contact. The message was clear: the meeting place had been changed to an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town. Great. Just what I needed—a last-minute scramble.

I drove fast, weaving through traffic, until I finally reached the warehouse. The place looked as deserted as ever, with rusted metal and shattered windows giving it a dilapidated appearance. I parked the Bugatti and stepped out, my nerves on edge.

Inside, a group of men waited, their expressions as grim as the setting. I could see Vito, one of the higher-ups in the operation, waiting for me. He was a solid, imposing figure who rarely showed his cards, but I could tell he was agitated.

"You're late," Vito said coldly as I approached.

"Yeah, well, I had other shit to deal with," I snapped back, trying to stay calm.

"Cut the shit. We've got a problem," Vito said, pulling out a folder. "The shipment got intercepted. The usual crew couldn't handle the heat."

I flipped through the folder, scanning the details of the botched deal. It was a mess—our cargo was seized, and now we had a rival group sniffing around our business.

This wasn't just about losing money; it was about maintaining control and keeping our operations running smoothly.

"So what's the plan?" I asked, trying to keep my frustration in check.

"We need to track down the rival group, get the cargo back, and make it clear that this is our turf," Vito said. "You're going to lead the team on this."

I nodded, knowing there was no backing out now. I had to fix this screw-up and fast. As I left the warehouse, my mind raced with strategies and contingencies.

There was no room for error—this was the kind of business where mistakes could cost lives.
