Kabanata 10
Lavishly
We went home the morning after breakfast.
I climb up the six stairs of the patio in the entrance of the mansion.
I decided to head up to my bedroom, but as I reached the final step of the staircase, loud screams erupted from Dad's office.
Instantly, my heart raced, pumping nervously as my knees began to wobble. I had to grip the nearby table for support, my mind in turmoil as chaotic thoughts swirled. The sounds of screaming, fighting, and things crashing inside the office echoed, leaving me frozen, unsure of what to do.
My eyes darted around, searching for Kuya, but instead, I saw my father's secretary. He stopped in front of me.
I tried to steady my nerves.
"Your father wants to see you," he said.
This is by far the darkest room in the house, a place I've always dreaded. Every time I step inside, it feels like the shadows are consuming my soul.
I tried to lift my spirits, but my shoulders slumped under the weight of the eerie black shadows consuming the room.
The next morning, I went to work early, attempting to bring the same energy I'd given my coworkers for the past few months, but something was different.
"How was your vacation?" Bree beamed as she saw me entering our cubicle, her smile wide as she asked the question.
"It was great," I replied, forcing a smile as I made my way to my chair.
I grab one of the folders filed on my desk and started the day with one document focusing on that part.
The elevator tinged when the clock struck eight thirty no employees comes at work in that hour. The only one that goes to work at this time was none other than Tobias Raphael Higuera.
Bahagya ko siyang nilingon. He was not in his usual dark blue suits and black suits. He was wearing a light blue pastel color suit with sky blue necktie. Kahit anong kulay kahit anong damit nababagay talaga sa kanya.
His eyes flew towards my direction. I tried to give him a smile. He stop and his brows knotted as he tried to examine me.
I mouthed. "Good morning."
He open his lips and mouthed. "Morning." Too
Marahan siyang tumango at nagpatuloy sa pag lakad patungo sa kanyang opisina. I watched his back going inside his office.
I let out a heavy sighed my head hurt more. I buried my face on my palms that was leaning on the table as I released another heavy sighed again.
