I can never really be happy. Sa tuwing masaya ako, agad akong binabalikan ng pait at kalungkutan.

It's as if the universe is telling me I don't deserve happiness...that every moment of joy I feel is just borrowed, something that will be ripped away the moment I start to believe it's mine. It's a cruel reminder that no matter how much I reach for it, happiness slips through my fingers.

Bahagya kong nilingon si Tobias ng maramdaman ko ang presensya niya sa aking likod. He gently caressed my arm, his touch trailing down until it reached my waist, pulling me into a warm hug from behind.

"Who called you?"

Napalunok ako.

"My workmate."

His nose nestled into the curve of my neck and jaw, resting there comfortably. My life has been a constant search through shadows, with happiness a fleeting light—rare and delicate, slipping away just as I think I've found it.

"A boy?" He asked dangerously.

"No, it's Heide..."

I place my hand gently over his, caressing it softly before letting out a sigh and leaning my weight against his chest.

"I really should go back to work." I whispered.

Bahagya niya tinaas ang kanyang ulo at nag isip sa aking sinabi. Kalaunan binaon niya ang kanyang mukha pa balik sa aking leeg. Leaving gentle kisses down along my shoulder blades.

"I'm not leaving you, I promise."

"You promised me that too, right before you left me."

Napakagat ako ng labi. Nag iisip ng kung anong i dahilan para maka trabaho ngayong araw. Kaylangan ko lang mag paalam ng maayos na aalis na ako sa trabaho at makapg isip isip na rin kung anong dapat gawin sa mga banta ng demonyong lalaki'ng iyon.

"You can have your man follow me. I'll come straight to you after work."

Hindi parin siya umimik at nagpatuloy sa paglapat ng halik sa aking balat.

"Tobias..." tawag pansin ko sa kanya. "I promise I won't run, I won't leave you again. I'll come straight to you after work."

He let out a heavy sigh.

I was hopeful that I had convinced him.

"Alright," he replied. " Run from me, and I promise no part of this earth will go untouched in finding you."

I pursed my lips. Marahan akong tumango bago kumawala sa kanyang pagkakayakap. His arms fell to his sides as he watched me with his brooding blue-gray eyes. Nilapamsan ko siya para magtungo sa banyo.

First, I'd probably call my papa and tell him about my evil stepdad's threat. But should I tell Tobias instead? Maybe he could help me. As much as I want to keep him out of my problems, I can't help but think he might help. But I really don't want to involve him in my problems. Baka nga galit na galit na ang mama niya dahil narito siya sa tabi ko at nagwawaldas ng pera sa mga tauhan para bantayan si papa at ako.

It's my problem I should solve this alone.

"Aalis ka na ba talaga?"

Binalingan ko si Heide.

Tumango ako. "Pagkatapos ng linggong ito, aalis na ako."

"Pati ba sa bahay, aalis ka na rin?"
