A/N: hey kids, I hope all is well with you guys, I hope we're drinking well in this heatwave. it's been a while, Hi! I haven't really been writing much but used irondad as a warm-up today and thought I'd share!! now, it's been a while, so my apologies for the insane OOC writing, I am only human. I'd like to say I've improved A LOT, but this was a warm up, so cut me some slack please.

SUMMERY: this is the one where the avengers bump into Peter. tony's...kid? or not? who knows! HERE WE GO!

3th person POV

“Hey kid,” Tony asked abruptly, sitting up from his routinely after-meeting ‘not nap just closing his eyes’. Because of course he wasn’t old enough to be napping. But he was a busy man, he needed to close his eyes every once in a while.

Peter hummed, hunched over a maths equation. It had been like this forever, Tony resting on the couch after groaning about a particularly boring meeting -but all meetings were boring in his eyes- and Peter eating his mandatory after school snack while working ahead on some homework so he could go out patrolling.

“Pepper will be home soon,” There was a hint of mischief in Tony’s voice that told Peter he was about to get grounded. “And it’s like, way too hot. Why don’t you go and grab some water pistols out of the storage closet.”

Peter didn’t need to hear more, they were a united front on all things messing with a stressed out Pepper related. He was up and running before Tony had even properly finished his sentence, earning a chuckle from the man as his chair tipped back dangerously.

The water guns were hidden somewhere behind a box of christmas ornaments, either pepper had taken some precautions as soon as it turned summer, or they were just stored very clumsily, but it didn’t matter, because now Peter was armed with a plastic bag full of guns, all shapes and sizes.

Just because it would be unbelievably rude of him to simply mess with Pepper, and leave Tony unharmed, he decided to run a black with red water gun he had now claimed as his own, under the tap, so he could surprise attack the elder.

He was in the middle of humming some tune he had heard on the radio and filling the water gun to the brim, as the door was yanked open and suddenly half of the avengers stood hurled together in the guest bathroom, gapping at each other.

“Tony!” Steve broke the silence, “There’s a kid in your bathroom.”

Ah, oh so observant Captain America.

“Mister, captain, sir,” Peter said in awe. The team had clearly just returned from some sort of work-out, because they were all red and sweaty, but Peter was merely a teenage boy, and he was not immune to the absolute awesomeness the Avengers carried with them.

“The young midgardian seems to be carrying some sort of guns, should we be worried?” Thor stated. And OMG Thor had perceived him. This was all going insanely fast and crazy and good lord.

“Uh, they’re water guns,” Peter raised the bag, “They shoot water, not bullets.”

“Right,” Steve said as hurried footsteps sounded in the hallway, “Back to the case of why there’s a child in Stark’s guest bathroom, please.”

“It was the closest to the storage unit,” Peter supplied unhelpfully.

“Pete? Ah, captain capsicle, what an unexpected…surprise,” Tony said, gracefully jumping to Peter’s aid.

“Stark, who is this child armed with…water guns?”

“Ah! You found them, wonderful. I was starting to think maybe Pepper had thrown them away.” Tony beamed.

“I think at least half of them are broken, though, this one is leaking a bit, but I don’t think it’s a problem” To drive his point home, Peter launched the gun at Tony, slightly soaking the man’s simple grey shirt.

Tony gave Peter a half glare, half grin, a...glin, one would say. “That’ll have to do then. Right, capsicle, are you in giving Pepper the fright of her life?”

“I don’t think one would call a water fight a fright as much as just a bit silly, but sure,” Peter laughed, pushing past the stunned soldiers.

“Right, I’m just going to say what everyone here is thinking, Stark, do you have a son?” Natasha asked, and now it was Peter's turn to be stunned. Did they really give that impression? The thought made something warm bubble in the boy’s chest.

Tony just shrugged, putting a hand on Peter’s shoulder and guiding him down the hall. “Sure, sort of,”

And the answer was even better than the question, with no one but Peter any wiser at all.
