Alexa sat in the plush waiting area of Spotlight magazine, one of the top entertainment publications known for its in-depth celebrity interviews and glossy cover stories. It was a career-boosting opportunity, one she should've been excited about.
But as she glanced down at the list of questions the interviewer had sent over earlier, her stomach twisted with unease.
They were going to ask about Jude. Of course they were.
His name was scattered throughout the questions like confetti—questions she wasn't prepared to answer, especially not after their last encounter.
The receptionist, a perky young woman with a headset and a perfectly rehearsed smile, gestured to her. "Ms. Harvey, they're ready for you."
Alexa nodded, pushing down her nerves, and followed the receptionist into a spacious conference room where the interview would take place.
The room was a mix of modern chic and old Hollywood glamour, with plush leather chairs and framed magazine covers lining the walls.
In the center of the room, sitting behind a large wooden table, was Carla Morrison, the magazine's senior editor and an interviewing legend in the industry. Her reputation for getting celebrities to open up—sometimes too much—preceded her.
Carla stood as Alexa entered, extending a hand with a warm smile. "Alexa, it's such a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I've been following your career for years."
"Thank you," Alexa replied, shaking her hand. "I'm excited to be here."
They exchanged a few pleasantries before settling into their respective seats. A recorder sat on the table between them, ready to capture every word. Alexa adjusted her posture, determined to project confidence despite the turmoil churning inside her.
"So, Alexa," Carla began, clicking the recorder on, "you've been a force in the industry for quite some time. From your early days as a young actress breaking into the scene to your current status as one of the most sought-after talents in Hollywood, you've certainly made a name for yourself. How does it feel to have achieved so much at a relatively young age?"
Alexa smiled politely. "It's been a whirlwind, honestly. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I've had, but it hasn't been without its challenges. The industry can be tough, but I've learned a lot along the way."
Carla nodded, jotting down a note. "You've always been known for your strong, independent roles—characters who don't take no for an answer. How much of that is a reflection of who you are in real life?"
Alexa chuckled softly. "I think there's definitely a part of me in every role I take on. I've always admired strong women who know what they want and aren't afraid to go after it. I try to bring that same determination to my own life, both professionally and personally."
