✦ Appearance

• I tried to find a neutral picture to use as the reference for how she looks while letting you (my readers) be able to add your self-insert if you wanted! I hate when authors make a fire fanfiction, but the main character's outfits or appearance is all kinds of crazy or lacks representation, especially for POC readers! You may get mad because the girl doesn't have a certain hair type, but like I said before- I did my best lol!

✦ Background:

• Demi Blackwell is a southern black girl who was born and raised in Oklahoma, even though her parents were from Louisiana, and later on when she was a bit older, moved back. Her parents and some relatives fled to Oklahoma due to massive amounts of flooding one year, but after experiencing terrible hail waves, windstorms, and tornadoes for years in Oklahoma, they decided they would rather deal with the flooding.

• Growing up in Oklahoma, her older cousins were adrenaline junkies and would allow her to go on drives with them through hail waves and a few tornadoes at an early age. She feared them but grew to find the beauty within them. During her youth, Demi became friends with Kate in middle school and was known as the 'Storm Duo' because of their shared obsession with storms.

• After moving away from Oklahoma, she felt homesick and missed it. She missed the dangerous weather and Kate. One year, during an evacuation, Demi had a stupid but genius idea. She took her beat-up truck that was decked out with homemade weather gear and drove in a Cyclone, thus giving her the nickname. Even in her adult life, she herself didn't understand what possessed her to do so.

• Once she graduated, against her family's wishes, went back to Oklahoma to attend college. Once back in Oklahoma, she reconnected with her childhood friend, Kate, who introduced her to Addy, Praveen, Jeb, and Javi. The group of 6 became quick friends because of their love for storms and would go on to chase tornadoes, seeing if they could tame one through trial and error.

• During their Junior year of university, the group set out in the field yet again towards the end of tornado season to see if they could finally disrupt a tornado. This however would end in tragedy when they underestimated the size of the tornado. In the end, the E5 tornado killed 3 of Demi's friends and scarred her, physically and mentally. After the events, Demi wasn't the same. The passion she had for storm chasing died along with her friends and dropped out of university.

• Demi moved back home, but the weather there brought traumatic memories back and she couldn't stand being pitied and chastised by her family. After finding another job, she moved to North Carolina. She ended up job-hopping over and over again because none felt right. The adrenaline high that storm chasing lingered and from that, it sparked her love for racing.

• Even though she was focused mostly on storms in her youth, she also had a passion for racing. So, late in the night, Demi would participate in street races. After a high-stakes race, a man offered Demi a chance at a new life as a racer. Hesitating at first, Demi accepted and would train to become a NASCAR driver. As she grew in her new career, the past still haunted her. She'd find herself hyperventilating after nightmares or when rain would fall.

• The torment eventually became too much and Demi would go into therapy. Even though she had gotten better, through the help of her therapist, she still suffered from nightmares. Her therapist at one point suggested exposure therapy and told her she should return to Oklahoma, but she refused. In her nightmares, she saw distorted and disfigured visions of her deceased friends, blaming her for their deaths.

• During her years away, Demi unknowingly would grow to resent Kate even though she knew that none of them could have predicted what would have occurred that fateful day. As time passed, Demi became a phenomenal racer, even after she crashed during one race. Later, she would go on to compete to win her 3rd trophy and after her race, was met with a familiar face.

• I thought it would be fun to come up with a playlist that fits with Demi. After the story is completed, I will go back and reconfigure the playlist. I'm hoping that during the story's creation, readers will give me song recommendations!

• I will be trying my best to get a pretty good chapter out in a timely manner, but I am a university student and life happens! I also wanted to let everyone know that I'm open to requests as well and to inform you all that I will revamp this story once it is completed! You may be wondering why I only revamped the introduction so far, and that's so that people know what's going on ahead of time in a way, plus it was really lackluster at the start and I wanted to flesh it out some more.

• I also wanted to tell you guys that certain details are for a reason! I try my best to research stuff I'm confused about so the story makes sense, but y'know- not everything gonna be perfect!
