~He doesn't exist~
Friday was right. She was up high.
They were on a metal platform that had a set of stairs leading down to a grey concrete floor.
The room looked like a basement, everything grey and bleak. But it was relatively clean.
Morgan was on the far side of the room, his hand on a green button.
"Found the lights" he said happily.
"I can see that." Friday mumbled as Morgan began walking between the rows of tall filing cabinets. There were exactly 26 rows.
Ian groaned beside her.
She turned back to him.
There was a large red mark on his cheek.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
Before Ian could answer, Morgan screamed, a high pitched sound that made the hair on Friday's neck stand up.
Both Friday and Ian ran to the railing of the metal platform, looking for Morgan.
"Oh, never mind." He said, laughing. "It's just Daisy....Wait, what?"
Friday and Ian shared a confused look then Friday ran to the stairs.
They banged under her feet as she ran down, the sound sharp and loud.
They weaved through the cabinets until they were under the metal platform they had been standing on moments earlier.
There stood Dahlia, only, it couldn't be Dahlia, because she was still outside.
This had to be Dahlia's twin sister, Daisy.
"What are you doing here?" Friday asked.
Daisy gave them a grin, one like an eel. Friday had only ever heard things about Daisy.
"I wanted to join you in the fun." She said, her tone faking innocence.
Friday was sceptical.
Morgan, however, didn't seem to notice and grabbed her by the hand, "cool. We're looking for information on a Jack Sinclair. You know anything?"
"Nope, but there's nothing g snooping didn't solve."
Daisy stepped past them, disappearing into the rows of cabinets.
Ian put a hand on Morgan's shoulder. "Nice scream bro, very ladylike of you."
Morgan smirked but he went slightly pink. "Thanks. It's my speciality."
They split up, going back and forth between the cabinets trying to find the 'J' section.
"Why is it not in alphabetical order?" Friday muttered, reading the lower letters.
Ian was reading the cabinets above her, because he was taller and could see them.
"Because they are trying to stop a bunch of teenagers from snooping?" He offered.
Friday gave him a look and he chuckled.
"Hey, where's Dahlia?" Morgan yelled from down the other end of the room.
Friday and Ian looked at each other.
"Maybe she went back to her room?" Ian called.
The only response was the sound of Morgan running bare foot across the concrete floor and up the metal stairs.
They heard the door be pulled open, then, after a few seconds, it shut again.
"Yeah, she's long gone." Morgan said, shutting the door and leaping down the stairs.
"We only needed her for the key." Friday said, "do you think she'll tell someone?"
Daisy appeared. "No. I'll make sure of that."
Friday took a step back, bumping into Ian, who put his arm protectively around her.
"Yo, Barnes, I found the 'Ja' section." Morgan called.
Friday, Ian and Daisy went to him, walking quickly through the rows.
Morgan was standing at the end of a row, digging through a drawer.
Ian grabbed Morgan by the shoulders and dragged him away. "You're messing it up. Let Friday do it."
Friday looked into the drawer that was labeled 'Ja'. All the names starting with 'Ja' were in this drawer and all the ones above it.
She flicked through each file. There were only 4 in the drawer as the files were so thick.
No Jack Sinclair.
She pulled open pen the next drawer and looked through them.
Nope.
The next drawer and the next drawer and the next drawer. No Jack Sinclair.
She wasn't tall enough to reach the next one.
Ian pulled it open, having no trouble seeing inside.
'No' he mumbled rolling it closed and pulling the next one open.
He was on his tiptoes now, reaching in and pulling out files so he could read the name.
"Not in any of these." He said, falling back onto flat feet and rolling the drawer closed.
They all looked up. There were 3 more drawers to go, and none of them were tall enough to reach them.
'Hey Daisy, is there a ladder or-" Morgan stopped. "Where did she go?"
They looked to where Daisy had been.
"Where-" Friday said, taking a step in the direction Daisy had just been.
"Which drawer were you up to?" A voice called.
They all looked up.
Daisy was sitting on top of the cabinets, having climbed up somehow.
"I wish she would stop doing that." Ian mumbled , folding his arms over his chest.
"Third one from the top" Friday said.
Daisy got onto her stomach, reaching down and pulling open the drawer.
She grabbed a folder and read the name, then put it back.
She did the same with the next 5 that were in there.
Friday frowned. How had there been no Jack Sinclair.
There were many Jacks but none with the last name they were looking for.
He had to be in one of the last two unchecked drawers...right?
Daisy went to the next drawer, rolling it open and grabbing the first folder. "Jack Ambicrombi?"
Friday shook her head, "no".
Daisy put the folder back.
When she got to the last drawer, Friday's heart began to sink.
Surely his file was in this drawer. Surely.
Daisy looked at all of the six files in the drawer then looked at Friday. "He's not here."
Fridays stomach churned.
How could he not be here? How could he not exist. Interpol had files on everyone, so how did he not have one?
Daisy, Morgan and Ian all looked at her, their faces a mix of confusion and desperation.
Ian stepped close to Friday, who was shaking her head, trying to figure out what to do.
"Friday...what do we do now?"
