Chapter Seven,
𝗢𝗛, 𝗦𝗢 𝗪𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚
LU sat outside her house on the porch, legs propped up on the hammock with a blanket slightly covering her lower half. She was so mesmerized by the sunrise, she didn't even want to see who had joined her."Hey," Robby spoke, his eyes glued on the girl who slightly turned her head before giving him a warm smile. "You're up so early."
Lu chuckled before replying, "Hard to sleep these days, with karate, school, and the shop. I like to appreciate moments like this," She offered him her blanket to share, resulting in him moving closer to her.
The Wong girl gazed at the sky for a second more before continuing, "What are you doing here so early?"
She turned her head towards him again, now noticing his eyes had been on her the entire time. The girl moved her gaze down to her fingers, fiddling with the blanket.
"I just wanted to see you, glad that you were up though. It would've been hard to wake you up to witness this." Robby answered, turning his head to the sight of the clouds as he listened to the birds chirp.
The two had gone quiet, embracing the slight breeze. Lu had gotten comfortable, placing her head on Robby's shoulder, the hammock lightly swaying from side to side.
"Are you okay after yesterday? I know you thought those were your friends, but it's better to stay away from them now." Lu explained, hoping to get her point across.
Robby looked down, placing his hand on the girl's head, carefully playing with strands of her hair. "I don't wanna talk about them, I'd rather be in the moment with you."
Lu looked up at the boy, who had already been looking down at her. The girl couldn't help tearing her eyes away from his, to his lips. Robby couldn't help but do the same, now holding her face.
Chaluai had put her hand on Robby's shoulder, smiling to give him the okay to kiss her. He leaned in and just as his lips were about to touch hers—
PECK. PECK. PECK.
A woodpecker had approached the porch near the teens, completely ruining the moment. Lu stood up quickly, shooing away the woodpecker to leave them alone. It flew away within a few seconds.
Tucking the one side of her ear, she turned back to look at Robby. His face had a look of shock at the recent events that were about to take place. The girl had now felt awkward, standing there in her pajamas.
"Um, I have to go to practice soon," Lu said, moving her hand to fiddle with her necklace, something she often did when she was nervous. "I'll see you later?"
The boy stood up, standing in front of her. "Uh yeah, yeah. Call me, okay?" Robby replied, handing the blanket to the girl awkwardly. He began to make his way off the porch, leaving.
