Chapter six: Perseus

We wandered through a forest, well not wandering Grover said we where on a 'satyr path'
"Somewhere up ahead, this turns into a satyr path" he informed us

"What's a satyr path" Percy asked

"It's a road through the wilderness harder to track us easier for Grover to navigate" I explained "It also helps block off our sent a little bit. There are four of us and three of us are demigods." I continued

" That's great, but if we stay in the wilderness, how we find a phone?" Percy asked stupidly

Annabeth and I looked at each other
" What do we need a phone for?" Annabeth asked.

" To call camp to get help" he said

Not only was that stupid because nobody at camp had a phone, but asking for help was basically suicide from both the gods and kids at camp.

" We don't need a phone we're fine" Annabeth stated flatly

" We're fine" Percy scoffed " We haven't even made it to Trenton and we're already wandering through a forest. I didn't even know they had forests in New Jersey but we found one I'd say the exact opposite of fine."

I laughed " We were sent on a quest by the Oracle by the gods. What did you think it would be easy? It's supposed to be hard."

" Exactly that's why only certain people are chosen. If we call  we're basically saying it was a mistake to choose us." Annabeth finished

" I'm perfectly fine with that. Everybody makes mistakes." Percy said.

I turned to him now aggravated, " Why are you so afraid of who you are?" I said.

" The thing about this particular path it's actually the one my uncle Ferdinand took" Grover stated trying to turn the conversation.

"What as that supposed to mean afraid I'm not afraid"

Now I was about to explode
"Yes you are you aren't just a kid Perseus just a kid doesn't do what you did to Clarisse back at camp just a kid doesn't have Hades sending top lieutenants to retrieve them. And most of all just a kid isn't a child of the big three-"

"I didn't ask to be here"

"I never said you did but we all are a part of something so much bigger than we can understand right now. Which means we have to move forward whether you want to or not. Whether you like it or not-"

"You don't want to call camp fine but at least let's your mom."

What did this idiot just say to me?

"Excuse me?"

"Aphrodite your mother. I'd call my father but we aren't exactly on speaking terms because of the life long neglect and all but you and you mother seem close. You know because of the necklace she gave you"

"Grover tell your friend he needs to pull himself together" I seethed

"You can't ask her can you?"

I'm gonna stab him

"When was the last time she talked to you"

"Grover."

"I don't know why you keep pulling him into this he's in my side"

"What makes you think that!?"

"He's my protector it's his job"

Roses popped up around me and I could tell I was radiating rage.

"He was my protector first."

"I didn't know.. first?"

"Yes Perseus first when I got to camp Mr.D sent Grover to watch over me get me to talk open up" he looked at me strangely "whatever you won't understand"
