Sophia’s POV

I got down from Jenny’s car and slammed the door shut before leaning down to the window level. “Thanks for the ride,” I told her with a grin.

“Whatever,” she answered with an eye roll. “Walk straight and don’t let your mom suspect anything. I swear I will tell her you sneaked out while I was asleep.”

I pouted. “So you’ll deny me?”

“Yes,” she said without mincing words.

“You still haven’t told me about what happened,” I reminded her.

“What happened when?” She asked with a raised brow. She started the engine of the car and I could tell she was ready to speed off once the conversation doesn’t suit her anymore.

“Yesterday night. With you and the guy you were dancing with,” I answered.

“Nothing happened,” she replied flatly. “And I’ll talk to you later. And oh, please keep the pills well. I will not tell your mother that I was the one who took you there.”

“And what will you tell her then?” I asked, raising a brow.

“That you’ve been following bad friends of course,” she shrugged.

“Yeah and will you tell her that you are the bad friend?” I asked, raising a brow.

“Who? Me?” She asked and scoffed. “Bye bitch.”

“Bye,” I answered, standing straight and stepping away from the car. She sped off instantly and I sighed before turning around and walking to the door. She and I had gone to the hospital first to take tests and also collect the pills. and then she ha taken me back to her house to pick up my things and change my shoes before dropping me here.

Of course I had burned the test results at her place. And then I had kept the pill bottle beneath all my clothes and books in my bag. If I act normal then mom wouldn’t have any reason to suspect that something’s wrong.

I tucked my hair beneath my ears. There was this ache between my legs that almost made me roll my eyes to the back of my head anytime I walked. It’s sick to think that I liked the pain. But I did. And that was the simple truth. Of course I didn’t tell that part to Jenny though. I feared she’d see me as a psychopath.

I tucked my hair behind my ears again and sighed. I reached the door and knocked once, then waited for my mom or my siblings to come and open the door.

After waiting for a few minutes, I checked under the flower pot and saw the spare key there. Where had they gone? They didn’t tell me that they won’t be at home today.

At least that will give me time to get settled in properly and act normal before mom came back with the twins, wherever they went.

I closed the door and went straight to my room, pouring the contents of my bag on my bed and quickly hiding the pill bottle under all my clothes in my wardrobe.

I dumped the clothes on my bed into the laundry basket and jumped on my bed, laying down with my arms and legs spread wide and sighing.

My mind wandered to the stranger who had given me the night of my life, and how I had been so stupid to not ask for him name before we both went up to the lodge. If I had known his name, I could have told Jenny. She had the best stalking skills.

The door to my room pushed open and I raised my head from the bed only to see Sarah standing there and staring at me with a wide grin on her face. “Yes mom! She’s in here!” She yelled.

I scowled at her. “Jesus! Keep it down, Sarah!”

“What? Mom said I should come up and check you. She has been yelling your name since we got in and we had no answer. What have you been thinking of anyways?” She asked with an eyebrow raised. “Anyways, mom wants to see you.”

“Me? Why?” I questioned.

“I don’t know. She’s downstairs, you can ask her,” she answered before running off.

I rolled my eyes and got up from the bed in annoyance. I walked down the stairs and saw mom sitting by the dining table, a box of pizza opened om the table while Sarah and Simon where chasing each other over a slice of pizza.

“Hi mum,” I greeted as I walked up to her and kissed her cheeks.

She gave me a scrutinizing look. “You smell odd.”

I frowned slightly. “Odd? How?”

She shrugged. “How was your study session with Jenny?” She changed the topic smoothly as I sat down at the other side of the table. She pushed the box to me and I smiled appreciatively. I hadn’t even realized how hungry I was until I smelt the pizza.

I took a slice and but into it. “It was fun,” I answered with a full mouth.

“Fun?” She asked. “You’ve never referred to studying as fun. Did you both go anywhere?”

“No of course not, mom. Where will we go?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.

“You just seem…different. You’re glowing in a different way,” she commented.

“Mom,” I said with narrowed eyes. “Different way, how?”

“Are you both the only ones who were at her house or did she have someone over?” She questioned. “To study with you guys?”

My heart began beating loudly in my chest. I knew that mom was going to catch on to this. I needed to find a way out. “Jesus. Mom. We were the only one,” I exclaimed. “Since when did you start having trust issues about me?”

Without waiting for her to answer, I got up and carried the box of pizza then headed for my room. Simon halted chasing Sarah and he asked with a frown on his face. “Where are you going with the food?”

“My room, and you’re not welcome,” I answered, narrowing my eyes down at him before running up the stairs with the box and then locking the door to my room behind me before he and Sarah could catch up with me.
