"Mom have you made anything?" Jossy asked her mother making her way to the kitchen.

"No but don't you have lectures today it's past eight am? " Mrs. Addison asked.

"it's scheduled at twelve pm today". Jossy answered.

"Ok i made some jollof you can have some not all I said some". Her mom warned.

"Ok ok I get you". She said nodding and heading to the cooker.

"What about Bennie? " her mom asked.

"I don't know unless I call her" She said taking some food.

"Ok that's fine" her mom added.

"She's even calling. Yh what's up" Jossy said answering the call from Bennie.

"I'm on my way to school should I pick you up?. I've got some few minute to spare" Bennie said.

"I don't any lectures this morning" She told her.

"oh ok then I'll see you in the afternoon, call me when you get there bye" . Bennie said ending the call.

~~

Jossy got ready for her afternoon lectures and left her home at twenty five minutes pass ten, reaching the school at forty five minutes pass eleven. She got ready for her human anatomy lectures but she immediately gave Bennie a call in order not to get an earful of complaints. Four straight hours of studies is enough to drain anybody of their energy that's what happened with Jossy but she had to keep up with whatever the lecturer was saying for her mid semester exams until all was over. My lazy ass can't keep up with this anymore. She thought.

"Why isn't she picking up her calls"? Jossy asked herself furrowing her eyebrows after a minute of calling Bennie.

"Sorry sorry I've seen your missed calls but I'm still not done with my lectures. I had to wait for the lecturer to step out for a while to call you back" . Bennie spoke in a rush.

"But I'm done so what should we do? " Jossy asked her.

"Ok... You can wait if you want but the weather isn't looking good." Bennie replied thoughtfully looking outside of her lecturing hall.

"I'll wait beside you brought a car today so I'm cool with it. I'll just have to find a safe place in case it starts to rain considering how cloudy it is now" Jossy suggested.

"Ok that's a good idea the library is close enough so I'll pick up at around five probably" Bennie urged.

"Alright see ya" She hanged up after that.

The library was the closest and quietest place to her that will help her concentrate on her works and research about some infectious diseases, how they affect the human body and how preventable or curable they can be either permanent or temporary. She got herself a spot at the end of the library with few people in it, taking out her laptop, plugging her earphones into her ears to block out the loud and deafening thunder, a pen and book she got engrossed with her assignment that she didn't realize couple of people have left and new ones are in. Thirty more minutes then I'm out of here.

"You know we should probably head back the weather looks incredibly bad". Alex said to Ian after been at the library for a while now.

"Yh i think it has started raining already. Let me get a view from the window straight ahead" Ian said whiles getting up from his seat.

"Is it raining heavily?" Alex asked Ian as he was returning to his seat.

"Yh it has just started but it's that heavy and five more minutes until my watch strike five" Ian confined from his wristwatch.

"Ok let's pack then. Did you bring your car?". Alex asked him.

"No". Ian answered.

"Ok brought mine so that's not a problem. Don't leave any of your belongings behind" Alex told him.

"Whatever. Anyways I think there's a girl at the other end waiting for someone cause I heard her on a call." Ian said concern laced in his tone.

"And so? That person could be her boyfriend, parent or friend who's coming to pick her up" Alex said without care.

"I don't think so because she sounded tired and told the other person to hurry. We should just give her a lift". Ian suggested grabbing his bag.

"Ok let's ask her then" Alex said agreeing.

"Hi" Alex said stepping closer to her table.

"Can we talk to you for a few seconds" Ian chirped in tapping his ears to let her take off her earphones.

"Oh Sorry. You did you say?" Jossy asked gazing at them intensely not believing her eyes at the moment.

"I wanted to ask if you're waiting for someone, you've been here for long and it's getting late."Alex spoke first.

" I.. Yh I'm waiting for my best friend she's supposed to pick me up but I think she's not done with her lectures yet so I'll have to wait." She cleared her throat before speaking.

" That's good but considering the facts that this rain ain't getting any better I was suggesting I mean we were suggesting if you would be OK with it that we drop you off"Alex said. "that's if you're OK with it and with us you know what I mean".

"Won't that be a problem to you two?" Jossy asked confused by their actions.

"No why would it be if we are the ones offering to help?. Ian asked rhetorically with a smile.

" Ok let me send her a message then" Jossy told them.

"Let's get going. Shall we?" Alex said with a smile helping her pack.

After a successful ride out of the school campus and the heavy rain with thunder featuring it. Jossy was finally on her way home but she even dream of this ever happening in her life and had any fortune teller tell her that she'll ever be in any situation like this she would even Evan dare dream about it, but then reality was just playing like a video game with her as the main character seated behind her crush and his friend in his car and  to whom they have no clue that she knows them. The silence was too loud until a phone rang.

"Where are you?" Bennie asked with a piercing and loud voice.

"Good evening to you too. I'm on my way home". Jossy answered nonchalantly.

"How!! I told you to wait for me and it's still raining so how are on earth are you on your way home?" Bennie exclaimed.

"I've gotten a lift" Jossy said. "and stop being loud your voice can be heard".

"Who gave offered you the lift? I hope it's not those senseless married men who come chasing young university girls. You know what I can't hear you well the drivers are horning too much, but make sure to call me when u reach woman."Bennie said with a reverberative warning.

" Whatever mom" Jossy said sighing while hanging up.

"Is she always that loud?" Alex asked making eye contact with  her through the driver's mirror.

"No she isn't at least I can say I'm crazier than her" She answered breaking and diverting her gaze to look outside.

Due to heavy rainfall and a long drive they finally arrived at the entrance of her home with mud coating Alex's black Honda civic. She showed appreciation and wished them goodnight, settling in her room, she took  a warm bath and tied her hair in a bun, got a hoodie and loose pants on to get ready for dinner. During dinner she got lost in most of the conversation that was going on with all the moments from the library and the ride home with the eye contacts they shared during their little talks playing in her mind like an ongoing drama which got her mom questioning her sanity.
" Are you sure you're OK?" Do you need to see a psychologist? "Is that a blush I see on your face?" And why are you smiling like a fool? "Are you listening at all?".
She just sat there with unfamiliar expression with all the questions being  bombarded at her with questioning looks from her siblings and dad and excusing herself to call Bennie was the only way she could rescue herself from this deer caught in light moment knowing that her friends were another problem to deal with. Wheew.
