APRIL LAID AT THE END of the couch next to Schmidt, her head in his lap, her arms hugging a hot water bottle to her abdomen whilst Schmidt absentmindedly had his hand woven in her hair, occasionally pulling at the strands. She and the rest of the guys were enjoying their evening with some beers and TV. Relaxing after a long week they all had. The front door opened and Jess entered the apartment, balancing multiple grocery bags and a large frozen turkey. Dropping the turkey to the ground when she closed the door.

April, Nick, Schmidt and Winston all turned their attentions away from the movie and over to their roommate. Groaning in annoyance when they spotted all the stuff she had with her. Knowing fully well that she was going to try and get them to celebrate Thanksgiving all together in a big way. Normally, they would just chill out if none of them were going back to see their families. Treating it like a day off, sitting on the couch in sweats with some take-out, beers and football. Occasionally Luke – April's co-worker and friend – joining them.

"What is that?" Schmidt asked.

Jess picked the turkey up off the ground, "I went to five grocery stores, and I got the last turkey in America," She grinned proudly.

April sighed as she sat up. Tucking both of her legs up to her body as she shook her head.

"No, Jess, we're not doing Thanksgiving, okay? All right? We talked about this," Nick told her, "We're just gonna watch football, drink beer and then we are going to Best Buy for Black Friday."

"Or as I like to call it, 'Friday'," Winston laughed.

"Yeah, it's our thing, Jess," Schmidt nodded, "It's Dudesgiving."

April groaned.

Nick rolled his eyes and looked at Schmidt. Having the same reaction as April did, "No matter how many emails you send, that's not a thing."

"It's real, man," Schmidt nodded his head, "It's totally real."

"It's not real," Nick shook his head.

"It is real," Schmidt nodded, he then whipped his head to look at April, "Speaking of the email, Luke hasn't responded to it, is he not coming this year?"

"Oh, yeah, he blocked your email because of all the shit you send..." April explained, hearing Nick laugh, "...But he is coming this year."

"It's been two years since I've had an American Thanksgiving," Winston stated, looking over at Jess.

"We talked about this," Nick nodded, sending Jess a pointed and annoyed look.

"Look, it's no big deal. I'm just cooking dinner for you guys...and Paul. Wait, who's Luke?" Jess asked, smiling innocently as she looked at April.

"Who the fuck is Paul?" April enquired.

"What?" Nick and Schmidt asked simultaneously.

"Hmm, what?" Jess asked.

"Did you just say 'and Paul'?" Nick asked, "Who's Paul? Did you invite someone named Paul to our house?"

Jess finally nodded, "Yes, I did. I asked someone out."

"Asked someone out?" Nick raised a brow.

"Jess, be honest, is the turkey named Paul." Schmidt asked.

April snickered.

Jess shook her head, "It's a real guy. And he teaches at my school. And he's really, really hot! And the turkey..." She sent Schmidt a pointed look, "...Is named Hank. Hanksgiving..."

April groaned.

"...And we are going to eat him, so..." Jess shrugged, walking off to the kitchen, still struggling with keeping her grip on the turkey.

Nick sighed, looking back at the others, "Hanksgiving."

April sighed, dramatically flopping back down onto Schmidt's lap, "Someone take me out of my misery. Shoot me now."
