Marilyn Thornhill paced outside Enid's dorm room. She had volunteered to deliver the news of Enid's impending roommate. Admittedly she was a little anxious about how the wolf would take to the addition to her space. Most students didn't want a roommate. Most students would do anything they could to avoid it including begging their parents pay extra for the privilege to room alone. Enid was not most students.
The most common complaints Thornhill had receive as a dorm mom were about noise, the lack of privacy, theft, and disrespect for each other's personal schedules, boundaries, and space.
Enid Sinclair went through three roommates last year. Three different girls had requested room changes. Each siting a different reason. Enid was apparently loud. She ground her teeth and whimpered in her sleep. She also liked to play music at all hours, day or night, she watched social media on full blast, and texted and giggled or laughed out loud constantly. She also wanted to know what her 'roomies' were up to nearly like 24/7 situating herself into whatever their plans were. She lacked personal boundaries as well. Especially with physical touch. A lot of the gossip content for her blog came from overhearing conversations her roommate was having on their side of the room. In other words, she was a pretty stereotypical teenaged girl packaged tightly in loudness, brightness, and intensity. It was too much for a lot of people.
Still Enid was a werewolf a bright, bubbly, ray of sunshine filled one, but a werewolf nonetheless. Marilyn wasn't sure how she would take the placement now. Although, she can't ever recall Enid being angry. She straightened up, raised her hand to knock , and did so. A small reply was heard through the door. "It's open."
Marilyn turned the knob and gently pushed the door open. She internally kicked herself for how nervous she was. Enid was sitting on her bed with her knees pulled to her chest. She was balancing her laptop on her knees typing away. Her head was cocked to the side with her tongue slightly poking out the side of her mouth. It was cute. It was part of Enid's charm. Everything she did was unintentionally endearing. Ms. Thornhill mentally rolled her eyes. This was the student she was so nervous about breaking the news to? Enid looked around the computer expectantly. Her eyes widened then narrowed briefly before she smiled at Ms. Thornhill. The teacher stood in silence looking down at the girl clad in brightly colored shorts and shirt.
"Is there something I can help you with Ms. Thornhill?" Enid asked with an almost unnoticeable edge to her voice. She set her laptop gently on her bed and gave Ms. Thornhill her full attention. "Yes dear, I'm sorry to disturb you. I have some news." The teacher replied. "Okaaaay." Enid had begun to fidget. She picked at her nails and bounced one of her feet slightly. "So, Enid you aren't in any trouble. So don't worry." Thornhill said raising her hands in front of her. "However dear, it would appear that you will be getting a roommate this term after all." Thornhill stated then winced bracing for impact. "Like wait, a transfer from another room? Isn't it early in the year for that? I thought we had to wait at least a month before a request could be processed. Unless it was an emergency. Oh no!Is somebody hurt? Did somebody die?" Enid asked confused. "Well, not exactly. She isn't a transfer. We 'll have a new student starting soon." Ms. Thornhill smiled. "After start of term?" Enid questioned. Ms. Thornhill nodded. Enid jumped up from her bed. "OMG! What's she like?! Is she another wolf? Does she listen to K-pop?! OMG! This is so awesome! I can't wait! What's her name? How old is she? When does she get here?!" Enid started asking questions so rapidly Marilyn could barely keep up.
Marilyn cleared her throat. She felt like Enid was either going to explode or pass out if she didn't get control of the situation back. "Woah Enid. Slow down." She stated calmly trying to get the wolf's attention. Enid continued to rattle on excitedly. Ms. Thornhill put a hand on Enid's shoulder. "Enid." She said just a little bit louder. That got the wolf's attention. "Breath." She stated leading the girl to sit on her bed. "I don't know much. I've heard she's a little rough around the edges. I can tell you she is around your age, in the same year, and will probably be in a few of your classes." Enid let out a high pitched squeal. Ms. Thornhill raised her hand and Enid settled slightly. "Her name is Wednesday Addams, and she'll be here on Sunday most likely. However, the majority of her things will probably arrive before her. We'll just put them on her side of the room." The teacher continued. Enid was sitting on her hands bouncing on her bed slightly. "Are you going to be ok?" Thornhill asked. Enid nodded her head. "Then I'll leave you to the rest of your day." Marilyn smiled and turned. She walked through the door closing it behind her. Enid let out another high pitched noise of excitement. She grabbed her phone immediately texting her best friend Yoko.
