With Enid:

Enid woke up extra early. Extra extra early. She was super excited. Today was the day her new roommate arrived. Wednesday Addams. Wednesday and Enid. Enid and Wednesday. Inseparable. Best friends forever. It had a nice ring to it. The fact that they might not get along never even crossed her mind. Well, briefly but it didn't count. They were going to be friends. No matter what. It wasn't even a question. It just felt right to her. Enid had started a few lists while she waited. One with questions she wanted to ask her new bestie, and one with things they could do together. Her birthdate, her favorite snacks, her favorite color, her favorite song, her hobbies. Parties, sleepovers, mani pedis...shopping! Excited was an understatement. The expectation was killing her. Enid sped through her breakfast, not even stopping to talk to any of her friends.

Enid felt giddy. She felt like she was buzzing with energy. There was almost a butterfly like feeling in her stomach, and electricity shooting through her body. Enid felt like she was standing out in the open on the edge of a cliff waiting for a storm to break. She wanted to run like a thousand laps around the school. She didn't she went back to her room to wait. But she really really wanted to.

For a while she paced the entirety of the room. Back and forth, back and forth until it became too much. She changed into a few different outfits, finally deciding on her school uniform for some reason. It was a staple during the day after all even when the students didn't have classes. Once she finally stopped moving, her anxiety took over. She felt nervous. Enid felt like she was going to throw up. She couldn't sit still. She jumped up and thoroughly cleaned the room. Again. For the second time now in two days. Once she finished Enid stood out on the balcony for a while leaning against the rail watching over campus hoping to catch a glimpse of her new roommate all to no avail.

She texted Yoko and Divina about three dozen times. Then grabbed a quick lunch to eat in her room. She didn't want to accidentally miss Wednesday's arrival by taking too long to eat. After her meal, she thought about putting away the stuff from the trunks that had arrived the day before. Wednesday's stuff. It would be the roomately thing to do. But she decided against it. That didn't stop her from peeking though. She tiptoed to the other side of the room even though it wasn't necessary.

Wednesday's stuff smelled amazing. Like sweet spices, old books, and outside right after it rained. Everything she caught a glimpse of was dark colored or white. The mystery girl's belongings ran the gambit of an old black and white tv show like her grandmother used to watch. A dark colored leather chair and an antique looking floor lamp had been delivered along with the dark black trunks and cases. Black and gray bedding was left on the bed. It was not Nevermore standard issue. It was way nicer than the white, scratchy, cotton sheets the students were usually issued. Enid decided to make the bed instead of just letting the bedding sit there. It was the least she could do.

Enid's hands slid over the soft sheets, blanket and comforter as she worked. The color palette made her think about the dreams she had been having lately. Everything was in black and white. Even her reoccurring ones. It all felt so surreal. She needed a quick break. She felt over heated. She went into the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face from the sink then turned. Enid stood in the bathroom doorway. She scanned from her roommate's side of the room over to hers. For some reason it reminded her of that scene in that old movie, 'The Wizard of Oz.' The scene where the movie switched from black and white into color. The colors fading in nicely and taking over. The black and white wasn't out of place either though. The room was in stark contrast but the transition was seamless. It just fit. Enid yawned. Maybe she shouldn't have gotten up so early. Maybe she should nap? She decided not to.

Her wolf stretched. Something had caught her attention. There was a change in the very air around her. She wasn't sure what. She didn't hear or see anything out of the ordinary yet. She didn't smell a threat. In fact in that moment, she felt oddly calm. If you don't count the electric feeling. It all seemed familiar in a way. Enid decided to finally sit at her desk and work on the two lists she had started perfecting earlier.
